Gas Mileage with Shell gas

I have been pondering this for a few years now, but I swear that I get about 1.5 MPG less when I use Shell gas. This past weekend for example, I fill up 2 miles from home, then we go to the lake Saturday morning. 140 miles one way, 30 of that is twisty 2-lane roads. At the lake there is quite a bit of idling pulling the boat in and out of the water. So, once we get back home, total of 290 miles, I fill up and calculate 15 mpg. If I do the same with Marathon or BP gas, I get 16.5 mpg. Same speed, around 73-75 using the cruise control most of the time. Anyone else on here seen a similar issue?

That's wierd - I have found just the opposite. I usually run Murphy Oil gas (Wal Mart & Sams) and averaged about 13.5. The one time I ran Shell (recently on a weekend trip) I got a hair under 17. I have to admit I had many more highway miles while burning the Shell than I usually do.

I agree i get bad mpg with shell gas also and idk about where u live but in florida shell gas is usually 10 cents more than others
Prices are usually similar. I mostly use Marathon gas because it is convenient to work, but also use BP when shopping for the same reason. I have probably used the Shell gas five or six different times after noticing the difference, and each time I have had the same result. Really weird.
yeah after i noticed it , i banned myself from goin there, so reason i get the best mpg with HESS or RaceTrac
I get 12-13 City and 17-18 Hwy with Shell (87 Octane)
