The rear passenger side of my titan was tboned a week before Christmas. The other nondriver who is at fault hit the passenger side rear wheel and bed of my truck causing what appeared to be minimal damage. Flat tire, scuffed rim and paint on lower bed. They also got my cargo trailer down the side and tore up the fender. My insurance did the appraisal and I was well compensated for the damages. I was about to lift the truck a few inches and get tires anyways so I did so and got an alignment. I noticed while driving around that the bed would hop at 45mph which is the speed limit everywhere lol. So I stop by the shop that mounted the tires today and the checked the tires for balance and all was good the tires were fine. So they got both rear wheels off of the ground ,took the rear passenger wheel off and put it in gear to find about a half inch to 3/4" wobble at the hub. The tech said the axle is bent but the housing is fine. Its all insurance money so I'm wondering if fixing just the axle is good enough or should I push for a whole rear assembly? I dont want to have problems later and it not be covered.

I would push for the whole axle. Nissan won't just change an axle. They want to change the whole assembly. So, I would go that route.

The "assembly" for the Nissan rear axle seal fix includes the axle shaft. That might be what the insurance company agrees to pay for. If they pay for just an axle shaft you need to push back and get the assembly that includes the seal and bear also.

I've had two rear wheel seals replaced under warranty and they changed the whole "ASSEMBLY."(complete housing, differential, axles, etc) I wouldn't settle for anything less. Especially with an alignment issue.

Yeah I will push for the housing to be replaced thanks. Nissan replaces the housing for just an axle seal leak, hopefully the adjuster will see the logic in that.

Based on what I hear, Nissan was replacing the entire axle early on when an axle leak was found. More recently, it is just the assembly kit of axle shaft, bearing and seal.

Does anyone have a link to a good place to buy the shaft assembly with a bearing and seal?

I've gotten OEM stuff from newautoparts.com.
