Hey guys, I just got wheels and tires and when I went to have them installed I was informed that they will not fit without serious trimming.

My Truck: Stock 2010 SE
Wheels/Tires: 18x9 0-offset 5-backspace with a 295 tires.

They said I will be ok with a leveling kit or by running bilstein 5100's. What do you guys think the best way to go is? My factory suspension has 50k miles on it. I do not have a lot of money under $400 budgeted to get this wheels/tires to fit. And something that I can install myself that wont cost a ton of labor would be the best.

Did they actually put them on and test the turning or just tell you they wouldn't fit? Are they 295/70/18? If so you'll most likely need to trim even with a leveling kit. Leveling kit isn't much $$, just a set of spacers. If you can get the coil compressed yourself you can install yourself, but basic hand tools won't cut it.

Basic hand tools wont help for a strut spacer? They are 295/65

you don't need to compress coils with just a leveling kit

they should fit with a leveling kit. its easy to install.

three bolts up top, one big one on the bottom, pull the assembly out, bolt on the spacer on top, slide it all back in and bolt it up.

Unbolt sway bar end links before jacking up truck. Get alignment afterwards.

Just the information I was hoping for! So any 2.5" billet will do the job just fine for me?

Your not going to get a 2.5" spacer on there without having CBC, 1.5"- possibly 2", but not 2.5"

I have 305/55/20 on mine and it rubbed in hard turns but I have a 3" spacer and now it doesn't touch them but I also have the 5100s on bottom notch. If your shocks are good I would go with the leveling kit but if you will be replacing your shocks soon might as well get the 5100s and be happy all around.

2" just to be safe for the upper control arms. might need to do some trimming still but i kinda doubt it.

This was my thought. My shocks are still solid they only have 50k miles on them (they are OEM though). But my hopes are to purchase some icon coils or fox in the future, so I think the spacers are the best option for me right now and then I will just swap everything out for the coils later

2" leveling kit should do the trick
If Osiris says 2" I go 2". Totally value this guys opinion! What tools are needed to "easily" install them. I have a buddy who will help me that has most tools just want to make sure I wont be forgetting something. Is there a thread on this? That someone can pass me? Search sucks on this site.

Actually the search works great lol. Just google it, the top 100000 results will be threads from the forum.

Btw coilovers literally take 30 min to install.

A good set of metric wrenches and sockets will do the trick. IIRC you'll need up to a 19mm. A decent pry bar will also help. It's a pretty simple process. Disconnect sway bar end links on both sides, Jack it up and put Jack stands in place. Disconnect upper ball joint, remove the lower strut bolt and 3 upper strut nuts. Remove strut assembly and install leveling kit. Assembly is the same in reverse. If you plan on upgrading to coil overs a simple leveling kit is the cheapest and best option. Then when you get coil overs sell the leveling kit. Your struts should be fine since you don't have the junk ranchos. I installed my leveling kit at 90k and ran it until a 123k when I installed my bracket lift and bilsteins.

I'm not mechanic by any means and with a buddy's helps I installed my leveling spacers in 4-6hrs in the driveway with a jacket stand and a socket set. Be careful when you remove the spindle from the upper arm that the cv axles don't hang and fall out cause you'll have diff fluid everywhere

I just installed 305/65/18's on stock wheels, so far no rubbing at full lock. I have a leveling kit only.
