So we just went on a quick weekend camping trip. Came from Canada and stayed at Bay view state park in Washington towing our 26bh jayco and my 2004 Titan pulled off what I would consider a miracle. Granted I just did a bunch of service on it but I'm confused how this even happened. I managed to get 10mpg average on the trip. Anyone else had this experience?

No camper here! But my two wheel drive 05 Titan will get 275 to 280 miles to half a tank of fuel, it did it more then once when I took a trip to Wichita, KS from south Louisianan.
By the way that's doing 70 to 80 mph on interstate. Did I mention I really like this truck!

In my years of driving semi (40) I've seen and been indiscussions many times. Hills are a known factor in increasing consumption of fuel. Did you know a quartering head wind is the hardest of all.
Manifold pressure and temperature will rise the most. Then you gt into friction and so much more
Buy the fuel enjoy the trip and be safe out there.

If you were coming from Canada to the US, you were driving down hill all the way....also once you cross the border, everything switches from KPG to MPG that will also have an effect....

Here's a tip for a more relaxing trip. We towed the camper from SC to KS for a funeral. Usual Interstate way. Normal traffic jams, 4 days, 10 mpg. On the way home, we told GPS "No Freeways." Pleasant, country roads, no jams, still took 4 days, and actually logged 30 fewer miles. Yes, the hills ate gas, but the slower speed (60-65) made up for that. MPG home - 10 mpg! Saw lots of neat things, including crossing the Mississippi river on a ferry, from MO to KY!
