Hard Shifting When Cold

3235 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Jared
I've noticed that when the truck is cold (<20 deg F), the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are quite firm. After about 5 miles of driving, it returns to normal. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

More firmer shifts are a normal condition. Fluid is thicker, the transmission changes shift points, and line pressure is higher until the transmission reaches a normal temperature.
