truck went into limp mode, registered acc pedal position sensor on my code reader , replaced it could not clear ecu fault, took to dealer, claims exhaust leak near tail pipe/muffler caused wire failure with shorts, have not went see it yet. If wires are not to bad can they be spliced or would it be easier to install that section of wire harness and what is it called

Had this happen to me earlier this year...started a spare tire fire that zorched the wires. DO NOT splice them, that is just plain bad practice. Buy a harness and either do it yourself or pay to have it done, but replace the whole harness. (a dealer should be under a grand parts and labor) One bad splice can destroy your ECU (way over a grand!!) if the shorted wires didn't do it already. Take a look under newer GM, Frd, Ram pick ups and you'll notice a factory installed shield to keep heat in that same area contained and away from the underbed tire and wire. After my mess, I fabbed one up myself.
