Started to notice moisture in my headlights..I'm okay with the idea of repairing it, but I l'd like to look at some upgrade options if I am going to start pulling things apart. Should I consider upgrading to aftermarket halo style headlights..if so any forum favorites? What type of bulbs should I consider? LED or HID? Any input would be great!

First off..don't you dare put garbage ebay "halo" headlights on your rig..fitment for most people is terrible and out put from all are terrible. Search for headlight Retrofits on Google and get to reading. Doing a retrofit to your oem or depo headlights will give you the best output and performance. I've done headlight builds for people for almost 3 years now. Started off with simple stuff to where I am now. I'll send you a link to my website that has all of my work so you can get an idea of what a retrofit looks like. Retrofitting is taking a high end true HID projectors and fitting them into your stock headlights To give you an amazing light output without the hurting oncoming traffic.

I almost want to keep the stock look. What if I just bought a new or used pair of stock headlights and then upgraded the bulbs to HID or LED? Is that even possible without a ton of modification to the stock assembly? I know very little about the whole headlight scene..wish there was a sticky or a beginners guide somewhere..

Of course you can do that. BUT it causes a glare that can be dangerous if the bulbs aren't in the appropriate housing (Aka an HID projector). Here's a little beginner walk through to get you started on headlight mods

LED's will be fine in the OEM housing, been using those for years. Just make sure you have them aimed properly to not blind people. HID's I would not put in the housing without projectors. Even though they're brighter, they'll scatter and have less output because they're not built for reflector (OEM) housings. You'll also blind people regardless of how you aim them unless they're in projectors.

If you're willing to put in a little extra money, retrofitting your OEM's (or new OEM style like Depo brand) will be the best route like Evil said. You get high end projectors in an OEM-built (no knockoff) housing.

So do a retrofit to the OEM headlight with a projector and a HID bulbs?

Yes. If you have the time you can try it. If not, have a professional build them. Just shoot me a message and I'll be happy to help with building you a completely oem performance headlight. Here's a build I did recently for a local titan owner

What he says. I'm currently on the fence of having Evil build me a set with some OEM's I bought. Just have to justify spending more hundreds of dollars on my third set of headlights.

I have spyder projector headlights with Opt 7 Led bulbs and am pretty happy with light output and cutoff, I'm sure a retrofit would be better but the setup I have now is plenty bright and people no longer flash high beams at me like they did when I have led bulbs in stock light

save money and buy my retro set for $500.

I saw your classified post..great set, but the 100 for shipping is kind of a deal killer..and I understand that's just the logistics of shipping across the border. If I'm gonna drop 600, I'd rather have something custom done.

Hey Evil, can you recommend an economical low beam projector setup?
Do you feel HIDs are required for that?
Does anyone make a decent retrofit halogen assembly to go in the stock housings?
(I have a Mazda CX-5 that has amazing halogen projectors in it...but don't see a lot of retrofit options)

Simple and as economical as it will get it the Morimoto MINI H1. It's semi cheap but still puts out some amazing light AND SAFE light for oncoming traffic. Halogen projectors are cheap and don't put out near the amount of light an HID can. If you have a halogen projector in your car the best I can tell you is to be careful if you put an hid in it. I've heard bad situations of where it melts the projector lense.

hey, so you have moisture on the lens. then you have a bad seal around where the glass mates and the solid plastic. You do not need to buy HID halos or any of that Jazz!!!!!

First buy a tube of windshield clear sealer.
Next remove headlamp asm that is getting moisture.
In hand you will see where the clear plastic clips to the solid plastic.
Run a bead between the 2 in that lil crack all the way around, dont take much, just enough to fill
Allow to dry and reinstall
FIXED for 8$ :)

That's kind of the direction I've decided to go for the time being. I've got other priorities higher on the list of needs for the truck.
