heater not working
hey guys, need some help with my armada. my heater isn't working. When I set the front AC controls to full heat it still blows cold, but when i set the rear AC control to full heat it doesn't blow any air. The rear AC will only blow air if it's set on cold. I checked the heater control valve and both coolant lines are hot so i don't think thats the problem. Any ideas will be appreciated. thanks!

One issue I had in the past was when my radiator leaked and I was low on fluid it wouldn't blow hot air, only cold. You can check your radiator fluid and make sure it's full.

Also, I have an 07 Titan and I had the same issue you just described last year right around the time it starts getting cool outside. I did all the same things you have tried - checked the heater hoses and they were hot, messed with the AC and heat controls and it would blow cold or I guess you'd say "room temperature" on the heat setting but still felt cold due to the outside temp already being cold. Also checked the heater control valve.

What I found to be the problem in that situation actually turned out to be the heater control valve. It appears to be fine, but it wasn't shifting to let the hot water through to heat the cab. You can take the cover off and have someone switch from cold and heat to see if the valve actually switches. If not then that could be your problem. For a temporary fix you could switch it yourself, but to get the AC back you'll need to manually switch it back.

I ended up buying one off EBay and replacing it. Simple replacement. I'm not sure if the Armada is the same as the Titan, but the heater control valve doesn't come by itself the hoses are attached. Do your research if you find that to be the problem because there are different ones out there, but only one for your specific need. Mine was the right one that I bought, but the hose from the firewall to the valve was too short to reach where the valve bolts up to. So i had to fabricate a bracket and bolt the bracket to the top of the firewall and the valve to the bracket.

In any case, and sorry for the long essay, I hope you figure out the problem and good luck!
