Hello everyone, just a formal introduction. Name is Jeff, live in the Imperial Valley, CA. Current 2015 Crew Cab SV 4x4. This will be Titan #4 for the Family. My Dad had an 04, I used to have an 05, Sister has an 05 and now the 15. Long story on all the Titans, and I will write back with the stories, and why I chose to buy a used 15 with 10,000 than a 2G brand new.

For Now, just wanted to say Hi, and God Bless.

Hello everyone, my fellow Titan Folk,

Well there are stories to tell in my family about the Titan. Some good, some sad, some in between. I will begin with an apology for not being able to post actual photos of all the trucks. I have been using Photobucket for years and now they want $400 a year for me to be able to post photos on forums like this, so I am in the market for another way of posting photos. Photobucket is a frickin RIP OFF. Anyway, had to vent there. So if anyone has any ideas, I am all ears.

My Titan story begins in 2004 when my Dad bought his Titan. Was a Crew Cab 2WD. I remember when he bought it how tough a truck it looked. No one out there building trucks had such a tough looking truck. Shortly after in early to mid 2005 I bought my First Titan. A Crew Cab SE 2WD. I did so much work on my house with this truck. I know the max payload I could have in that truck was 2200lbs. How did I know that? I was landscaping my back yard and filled the truck with dirt as much as I could till the suspension was telling me it had enough. When I went to the dump area the truck was weighed before and after. I asked the scale gal how much I was hauling since I felt the Titan's Suspension was maxed with this much weight. She said your right at 2200lbs!!! WTF??? Not bad for a 1/2 ton truck huh??? The truck pulled the weight like nothing was there, but the suspension was crying Uncle. My Titan I ended up losing to Divorce in 2007 and at the time I had 2 cars, my 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo MR and the Titan. The ex was telling me pick one because she gets one. Crap. I gave her the Titan because the Titan I knew I could get another one down the road, the Evo?? Harder to get. So was a sad day.

Now my Dads truck now this is a story. This is where I would like to show you guys photos. Unfortunately my Dad was driving to work one night and had a medical problem. He basically was paralyzed from the neck down while driving. He was in a rural area thank GOD and was doing approx 70mph before he blacked out. Witlessness said he went off the road, hit a berm caught about 3-4 feet of air then landed in a concrete irrigation canal. The impact was so hard that it ripped the rear axle right off the truck. Water was coming into the truck and he was unconscious and in about waste deep of water. When the Rescue Team got there they had to use the jaws of life to cut open the truck to get him out. The Rescue Team told us if he was in a car instead of a truck he would have drowned. The accident was caused by a disc in my Dad's neck the slipped temporarily paralyzing him. They didn't know that at the time, medics thought he had a heart attack or stroke. Thank GOD he survived and allot of credit was ultimately to GOD almighty, and the truck itself. The Rescue Team was surprised how intact the safety cell of the truck was, the inside of the truck looked as if nothing happened. The truck did its job. My Dad was in ICU for a month. Had multiple surgeries to fix his spine. While he was there in ICU we had some visitors in suits come asking if they could talk to my Dad. I asked them who they were and they replied "We are from Nissan. We were sent here to ask permission to see your Fathers Truck. They heard about the accident and wanted to see if they could do anything to improve on the truck". My mouth dropped open, I looked at my Mom and I said these guys are from Nissan???? They spoke to my Dad asked a bunch of questions and before they left my Dad said to them, "If it wasn't for GOD and that truck I would be dead right now". They went and looked at the truck and I believe they took it from the insurance company. I will try to show you guys photos when I can. So I can vouch to you guys that my Dad hit basically a cement wall doing 70mph and lived to talk about it. Again Thank GOD. Unfortunately for my Dad he was so distraught over the accident he could not get into another truck. He kept having flash backs and was very difficult for him. So he did not buy another one after.

The third Titan in the Family was my sisters 2005 Titan Crew Cab SE 2WD that she bought new about a month or two after I got mine. My sister still has her 2005 to this day after 12 yrs. I do believe she is just now in the process of selling it to a friend. She had hers lifted, rims tires, all the Stillen add on's it was a rockin truck. She has put that truck through hell and back so many times every time I look at it I am like "how on earth is that thing still running". She put Mobil 1 synthetic oil to the test by going some 15k miles between oil changes, washed it whenever she remembered, towed things, went places a 2x4 should not be able to go BEAT THIS TRUCK UP!!! and it STILL runs like a swiss watch. She is selling now because she has crossed over to the JEEP world and is now in a JK wrangler and she has done so many mods and goes off road in so manly places. I mean when your sister goes to a place called "Heart Attack Ridge" for fun?? yeah haha.

Now, number 4. My fiance and I were looking for another truck, actually for her. She just got a promotion at her work, and her car was paid off and she wanted something different. She always has loved trucks and asked me what truck would be good. I asked her what about Nissan? She said her words not mine....."I like the first style Titans, they looked rugged and tough, I dont like the new Titans they are too fancy and look too prissy" I just kinda laughed and said no comment. So I began my search. Last year for the 1G was in 2015 so I went to the net. I found a 15 Crew Cab 4x4 in Yuma Arizona for $28k with 10,000 miles on it. I had to go take a look. We drive out to this Nissan dealer there and of course they are trying to sell us a new Titan. My girl is like NO NO NO we are here for THAT!!! I WANT A TOUGH LOOKING TRUCK....Still makes me laugh when she says that. So we pulled the trigger bought it and that is number 4 for the family.

My Girls Titan though has some quirks and may have been why someone traded it in so early. Whoever had it before us only had it for about 14 months and only put about 10k miles on it. The Stealership said they traded it for a new Diesel XD Titan but who knows. What we do know is the Carfax was clean, but little things like the NAV unit was replaced because it said FRONTIER on it at start up and not TITAN. The Door panels seemed like they were taken off as was the bumper at some time. I also was having an erratic temp gauge took it to my local dealer and they said it had a faulty Fan Clutch. The Drivers Captain chair arm that goes up and down? It has fallen off twice so far and the dealer re attaches it and it keeps coming off. Hopefully it stays on this time. The truck also had no in cabin filters in it? Why would those be missing? But things are fixed now and I feel I got a good deal on the truck. We have tinted the front windows, replaced the windshield due to a chip right where you look, I bought a Nissan Drop in Bed liner for it, All Weather Nissan Floor Mats, Rear Under Seat Storage bins and plan on getting the bed extender next.

Plans for the newest truck? I want to be able to go with my Sister on some bigger trails off road. I know her modified JEEP can go places my Girls truck cant just due to the size but I need some decent All Terrain Tires. Why Nissan puts A/S tires on a 4x4 is beyond me, but I guess that is why they have the Pro4x4. So I need to upgrade the tires, I would like to replace the Headlight and Fog light bulbs with brighter ones just need to figure out how to do that, and I am debating on getting the Towing Mirrors. I like the big mirrors but not liking the idea of taking the ruck door panels all apart to do so. I dont want rattles and such but that is something I am still considering.

So there is the stories in a "Cliff Note" version and do hope that I didnt put anyone to sleep haha.

God Bless...

You have quite the history with Titans there. God was definitely looking after your dad that night. Glad to hear he survived that! Interesting to hear that Nissan came in to inspect the truck and do research to make even more improvements.

As far as lighting, I've seen quite a few threads of people switching to LED's and liking them. just search the site.

Also, there is a link on here somewhere to shop manuals for the Titans. I'll try and find it and should be able to give you the rundown for replacing the mirrors. I didn't think the entire door panel needs to come off for that. (I could be wrong though)

Almost forgot, funny to hear you went to Yuma for the truck. I lived there during my USMC time in the late 80's/early 90's….
