I did this swap by removing the end caps from the chrome bumper, taking out the plastic molding in the middle and laying the XE bumper cover over the chrome bumper. Since I was missing that cross support i just drilled two tiny holes in the middle section of the chrome bumper an pop riveted the cover on. I zipped tied the bottom tabs and viola I was done. I will warn you that the headlights don't match exactly to the XE bumper profile so there will be 1/2 step/gap there.

2. Circled bracket is from my truck and appears to be stricly used to mount my SE chrome bumper only. Can I just leave this part off on the swap?

Long shot on resurrecting this old thread, but it's the best shot as to where my question comes. In this pic the bracket you've got circled is held on by two bolts. Guy I bought my truck from had hit something in a parking long and bumper is sagging on drivers side because those two bolts are missing. Got under there yesterday and the bracket is still there and attached to the bumper, but not to the frame. It didn't look like there were any nuts tac welded inside of the holes or anything, so how would I get a nut inside there to secure that bracket back to the frame? I tried feeling around to no avail, however I haven't pulled the bumper off to see if that gives me access. Appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks,
Bake

Bake,

The holes where those two bolts go into are definitely threaded on my truck. Maybe later year models are different? Mine's an 05. Hopefully someone else would chime in.
