Recently had a series of disasters with my 2017 Titan Platinum Reserve. Up to this point (23,800K miles) I have had no issues with my truck. But then we got heavy snow here in the mountains in California a couple weeks ago... carport collapsed on top of the truck. Some damage to roof and hood/grille, but after the snow melted (about a week) I was able to extract the truck. Felt pretty lucky that it wasn't major. However... After a couple days, I made a short trip to pick up dinner. Upon returning home, I noticed "Key System Error" on the dash. Sorta dismissed it, thinking it was the typical Incorrect Key ID message that was always popping up until I changed out the fob batteries a ways back. Anyway, the next day, I go outside and hear clicking noises under the hood. Noise was coming from the black boxes behind the battery. Truck would not start, so I gave the battery a partial charge, up to 12.5v, and changed my fob battery again. Truck fired up, no problems, no lights. Later that night, went to make another short trip and "Key System Error" was back. Got it to start, made my trip and returned home. That's when the really weird stuff started happening. Truck wouldn't turn off at first, but eventually did. Hitting start/stop prompted lights flickering, nav screen wouldn't shut off and other bizarre electronic chaos. Tried starting the truck again, and it seemed like the starter stayed engaged, engine sputtered, and then started running normally. Noticed the check engine light was lit. At that point, I disconnected the battery and walked away.
I am hoping that this problem can be solved with a new battery; it isn't too old, but not brand-new either. I have a code scanner, so I and going to reconnect the battery and plug it in to see what's what. If anyone out there can give me some pointers, ANYTHING to keep me away from the dealer (an hour away), I would be most appreciative.

right off hand I would say water has gotten into a fuse/relay box probably underhood. I remember a 92 chevy work van I had that had just gotten returned to me after a major wreck, van was totaled but tight a@@ boss demanded it be rebuilt. They missed some hood parts that channeled water away from the fuse/relay box that sit right below the driver side hood seam, first time I run it through a car wash all hell broke loose, lights flashing, starter engaged, thought it was going to melt down, I finally got a battery cable off and liked to never got all the water out of the box....what a trip.

Thanks for this thought. That's an area where I heard a bunch of clicking noise when it all started, and we've had a couple weeks of snow and then, once the truck was out from under the collapsed carport, it rained for several days straight, and the truck was sitting out in it. I'll investigate those boxes.

Sounds like a classic battery issue on these trucks. If you get the battery tested itll most likely pass but chnage it anyways. Electronics get real finicky if battery voltage is not spot on. Also if you have an air compressor use an air gun and dry off fuse box and electrical connections. Check your grounds as well make sure everything is tight and there isn't any build up. Occasionally I have noticed that when it rains my backup camera will stop working. Figured out that water was getting into the connection.

After a couple days, all errors and engine lights are now gone and truck is back to normal. I believe it was moisture (though no water in fuse box and connections) and battery with insufficient voltage. If you ever let your truck sit for a week or more, definitely let the alternator do its job with a long run time. Thanks to all who responded in my time of need.
