Hello, I am new here so hello guys. I recently bought a 2008 Nissan titan Pro-4x with 170,000 on the clock. She a GREAT truck and I love her. Earlier today while going down the interstate I had to slam on the brakes because of morons in front of me trying to stop traffic to get over. And as I was pulling back on my base I noticed that at cruising speeds I have a sound coming from under my truck. It like a rotating sound as the truck moves forward. It something to do with the drive line, I am not a super tech I just know how to fix certain things. I don't have a lot of time to work or diagnose the problem due to A school and the Duty days we have, any ideas? Trying not to take it to a shop cause I fear ill get screwed over and have to pay a lot of money that I just don't have. As I accelerate the vibration and noise seem to disappear but at a low idle speed and just coasting down a hill the sound and vibration can be felt and heard. I think it coming from up front but I am not 100% sure. it feels like it coming from the middle of the transmission and transfer-case. ANY help guys is very much appreciated. I can maybe try to get a video for the sound tomorrow hopefully to see if that helps narrow it down.

Check the parking brake for the rear? What should I look for? I can't leave the barracks tonight so I will have to check in the morning. Thanks for the reply.
Your gonna want to jack up each aft wheel and pull the rotors off, at which point you can look at the emergency brake pads and see if their still intact.

Would that make the sound and vibrations that seem to be coming from the transmission and transfer case area?
IMO, I wouldn't think so. I was just answering your previous question. How sure are you that the noise is coming from the tranny area? Does the sound/vibration change (increase/decrease) with the application of the brakes? Have you checked the transmission fluid level? Lastley, have you physically crawled under the vehicle and done an inspection of the suspected area of concern yet?

When I look under the truck I don't see anything out of place or broken. The trucks runs fine and shifts fine. When I accelerate the vibration and sound seem to die down or go away. it also only seems to do it when I am going straight, as I make a turn it doesn't seem to do it.

Vibration, huh? I would start by looking at a possible cracked transmission mount, or a thrown weight from one of your shafts. Was your tranny fluid at proper levels when you checked it...assuming you did.

Most of the options I have are just...to much $$. The cheapest thing I have found is just to replace the gears and get a master rebuild kit, while also re-gearing the front end down the road (would like to switch to 4.10). But I cant find anyone in the Groton area that even would TRY A a gear swap. When back in GA everyone does gear swaps.

Hey guys, I found a Axle like mine from a Pro-4x with lock Diff and everything. For 750$, though it has 200,000 miles on it. For the price it just too good to pass up, considering the next cheapest I have found is 1,250$. At 200,000 should I be scared and what should I do to help it mileage?
