Hello everyone,

This is my first post here and my first Titan. Although I am not a newbie to nissan I sold them or over 4 years.

I just picked up my 2017 White on grey Pro 4x with everything except Luxury package. I have already begun to hunt for parts and accessories, but have one question about Tonneaus.

Many posts I have seen on various covers show that I often have to pull and flip the Utili track. Some people have trouble with the thread locker some not so much. Regardless, I am looking at a Hard, Tri-folding cover. Does anyone out there know if any of this option that does NOT require me to remove the rails?

Any thoughts or advice would help.

Thank you all .

Diamondback covers does not require that you modify anything with your rails. They are a little expensive however I love mine and had no issues with it, completely weather proof, 1600lb weight rating on top of the cover, lockable and easily removeable. The other nice feature is you can drill into and attach other options without any issues.

How is the removability of these covers. Some of the tricks-folds I liked because you could either gain quick full access to the bed, OR flip it way out of the way so you could load large items like atvs or equipment that might require the full bed in a flash.

This is not a direct answer to your question since I did not purchase a tri-fold. However, I did purchase a Pace Edwards UltraGroove Metal retractable cover that does not require you to flip the utility rack system. Just good to know that there are other options out there that do not require you to not remove the utility track system.

I think it was less then 150lbs freight so maybe 125 or less, and no 10 min 1 man job. Just removed mine tonight. Super easy. The inital install take about an hour, however that's only because you have to get all the brackets to the right legnths.

Also if you decide on a diamondback, spend the little extra to have it lineX coated. Sounds odd but I live in central AZ and even though it's black it's not hot to the touch on the outside,.... the exposed aluminum underneath is a different story. Just add a little silver insulation and works like a charm.
I get people asking me all the time about it, even the dealerships.

Being an engineer that makes a lot of sense. The black would simply absorb the heat not reflect it back out meaning the exterior would be cooler. You did make a comment that was a little confusing you said "a little silver insulation" but you were also talking about lineX. Were you spraying silver LineX inside the cover as your" Insulation" or did you mean something else?

I don't know when yet I will pull the trigger on a cover, before snow flies for sure, but now I have worked it down a bit to 2 covers. The diamondback, and the Extang 2.0. What I like about the extang is that they have actual engineered brackets that fit in the Utili track. Its also a very very fast on and off cover, and can open a little wider than the diamondback initially. However it has zero weight rating on the top of it where the diamondback has like a bajillion lb rating. Both look good in their own way IMO.
Tough call at this point. Anyone here have an Extang 2.0?

I have the exterior sprayed with black lineX, and the interior I've seen people put the silver bubble insulation (pardon my technical name for it lol) to take care of the hot underside.
Diamondback also has the brackets specific to the utilitrac (the fit inside of the system) When ordering it's should ask if you have the tracks or not.
When I ordered mine from a 3rd party, diamondback actually called me to find out if it had the tracks so I could get the correct set up. Plus a lifetime warranty, and customer service like that it's hard to pass up.

Also, with either option you chose, the extang or diamondback. I purchased through tonneaucoversworld.com. I waited for the representative chat box to open up and asked for a better price then their adverstived cost. Saved me an additional 15+%. This also worked when I purchased my running boards from realtrucks.com (sister companies), it knocked a out another 100$ off the price.
Hopefully you can get a better deal or are a better negotiater.

That is some very good advice! Thank you. You just simply asked the chat for a better price and they gave you a coupon code?

I hageled a little bit, gave them my number I wanted out the door and they came super close.
They can do a coupon code or send you a paypal invoice for your approval. Did the paypal for both applications. If you are looking for running boards I'd recommend the Aries AdvanEdge. All aluminum except for the brackets. No rust, weight 50lb total for both. And realtrucks.com their kits comes with the brackets everyone else I found wants to sell the brackets seperatly for about $100 extra.
