Ok i did the stupidest thing I have ever done. I wanted to get the water spots of my window, so I went and bought some bar keepers friend. For some reason I used a brillo pad to scrub it out, I must have scrubed a little to hard cause now I have scratch marks all over my windows. While I was doing it I couldnt tell the windows were getting scratched up, it wasnt until I drove ti the store that I saw how badly I f'ed up. Its so bad that I its hard to see at night. Does anyone know how to get scratches out of glass. Please help, I dont want to have to replace all my windows.

I'd call a company like Glass Doctor or any other local glass place. If a good business they will steer you straight. You "MAY" be able to remove the scratches but I think you are SOL :( A new windshield may be in your future.

You can try some of the scratched glass polishing products available everywhere.

http://www.griotsgarage.com/search.jsp?searchtext=glass+polish

or

http://eastwood.resultspage.com/search?p=Q&ts=custom&w=glass+polish

or

http://www.autodetailingsolutions.com/GlassPolishingKits.htm

or

http://www.amazon.com/Do-Yourself-Glass-Polishing-Kit/dp/B000MVG8ZI

Here's a company that does it that I found online:

http://www.scratchglass.com/

I'm sure there are some like it in this country to polish glass. Let your fingers do the typing.... Everything's available on the internet.

Did you "clean" all the windows?

A good glass professional may be able to polish the scratches out if they aren't to deep. Otherwise........... your screwed.:crying:

If you scrape your fingernail across and it gets "stuck" on a scratch, it's too deep to polish out... If not, one of the products I listed or a professional can polish the glass.

I've also used VERY fine steel wool to get scratches out as well.

My cousin had an S-10 ZR2 that he used to let me take to my hunting camp. After a week of driving on logging roads, I got the whole truck covered in mud. It was so bad that the driver side & passenger side windows were covered. I would roll the windows up & down to clear them enough to see. From running the windows up & down w/mud all over them, I scratched the hell out of them. I didn't notice until I cleaned the truck when I got home (no running water to clean while there). The scratches were pretty deep, but I was able to get them out w/glass cleaner & fine steel wool.

You may want to try to spot test some steel wool. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest consulting a pro.

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I talked to some glass repair places here and they said they might be able to repair the windshield but not the windows in the doors. Do any of you know if this is something my insurance would cover. Thanks again

I agree the best way to get insurance to pay is to smash them all out and say it was vandalized just might want to leave out that you vandalized it.

Might also not want to admit doing it on here... Insurance fraud is a federal offense......

ha ha ha...Gotta love insurance fraud advice....

You are basically screwed. You can try and polish them up...to minimize the damage...but yeah. Screwed.

To make you feel better: I drove my truck into a parking garage, and lost a wheel and tire because one night I got drunk, and handed the keys to my (unknown to me) even drunker friend to drive us home.

I mean...we all do dumb sh1t.

Just got off the phone with my insurance company and they said that since it was an accident the would cover it. And since I have mechanical breakdown coverage total cost to me will be $50. This is the best news I had in a long time. If I had to pay out of pocket it would have cost me $3000. They also said that they would be trying to get their money back from Brillo Pad, since it says that is safe to use on all glass. If they get reimbursed from Brillo total cost to me would be $0. And to think I was going to switch my insurance over to another company, damn I love that lizard.
