Hemi VS Titan consensus?

Just wondering what the final thought was on the Titan VS the Hemi stoplight war was.

Seems to me, if it's Titan KC VS Hemi regular cab, all stock, it could go either way. But add Club Cab or 20" rims to either, and the odds will slide.

Thoughts? Kill Stories?

A big factor still IMHO is driver. The trucks will be close but I have read several stories about Titans slaying Hemi's...I don't read Hemi sites so I don't know about any stories of Hemi's toppling Titans. :teethmast

One of my best friends has an 04 Ram 2500 quad cab 4x4 with the Hemi and I smoked him. I had about 4-5 truck lengths at about 80mph. I will give him the benefit of the doubt though that it's a heavier truck and he probley had a couple hundred pounds of tools in his tool box. Plus mine's a KC. I bet if he was empty it would have been closer. A regular cab short box would be a really good race I think. The Ram is a great truck, he's got about 7kmi on his now and no problems. It was actually my first choice until the Titan came along. :) I will tell you though that his 2500 rides like a tank! It's defenitly built to haul some stuff.

The Hemis I run are at the dragstrip which leads to two things - they are all regular cabs (no back seats at all) and are modded. Based on timeslips, I can only beat a handful without the nitrous. With the nitrous I have posted faster times, but not consistently.

One guy that goes out there ran a 14.5 by removing his exhaust, making a homemade CAI tube, and getting his 'puter flashed. These are very fast trucks in basically stock form. They are also a good deal lighter than our trucks and can come with much better gearing (3.91 with the tow package). Most of the time they are running low 14s and high 13s with about 93-95 mph. They are very strong in the 1/8 mile, hence the good ETs with similar mph to a titan running in the high 14s. Weight and gearing, man, they got us there in spades.

I can't tell you any street kills because I just wave or invite them to the dragstrip (none of those yahoos ever go).

Forums like these just become flame wars. Buy what you like and don't bother putting other vehicles down to boost up the one you like.
It's kind of obvious which one we all chose!

I raced a single cab chevy 1500 and a Bumble bee Hemi they were both 4x2. I was able to beet the chevy, but Me and the Dodge came close. He's exhuast was modified and maybe a chip. He barely beat me with just the nose. He would take me for a few seconds everytime we would change gears. I'm willing to bet he had shift kit on his tranny, normal trucks don't kick in the way it did. I was pretty happy the way the titan behaved. Now, I'm curious to see how it would do against the Chevy SS.

I'm a proud owner of a:
'04 Titan 4x4 SE model.
Off road package
captain chairs.
Big Tow Package
Canteen Color.

About the SS and Hemi: http://www.titantalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18370...
Truck Trend's 0 to 60 for a SS compared to a stock Titan is like 1 tenths or so quicker...surprisingly close for a "performance truck."

Well - I have owened both this year: 2004 Titan XE 4x4 CC & now a 2004 Ram 1500 4x4 QC 5.7 Hemi. I don't have actual track times, etc, so I'm going by the "seat of my pants" feeling. (1) I think the Titan is quicker off the line (2) I think the Ram Hemi has a stronger, quicker mid range 50-75 mph. A few people from a Hemi Ram site I visit that have raced against Titans seem to agree with this opinion. Of course there are people on both sides that claim their truck is the king of all trucks, blah, blah, blah. Like someone mentioned earlier, I think it depends on who's driving and how they're driving. Also, remember not every Ram is a Hemi either, and I believe the current 5.7 is rated higher than the previous 5.9 (working from memory on that one so don't hose me if I'm incorrect) According to Dodge, the Hemi accounts for about 30-35% of there Ram truck sales according to an article I read a few weeks ago.
I think both truck have their finer points and are fairly equally powered - my feeling from driving both is that they each exercise their power in different bands. My Titan always felt like it launched off the line - and my Hemi accelerates like a rocket when your cruising around 45 mph and slam it. Just my $.02

Appreciate you giving us your owner observations being that you've owned both. This reminds me the classic Mustang vs. Camaro analogy...

i raced my buddys hemi last night. i have a kc and he has the quad. i got him off the line pretty easy, then from about 60-75 he gains back then from 80+ i pulled him. its a real good race. i was spinnning a little more than usual maybe a few damp spots in the road. if i didnt spin i would probably get a little more ahead of him from the start.

The only time a hemi would beat us stock for stock was if he had a RAM single cab w/hemi they are only 4700lbs and we had a 4 wheel drive crew cab 5250lbs
What did you do to your Titan to get a claimed 360HP out of it?

Yup the 5.9 was only good for I think 245hp that's 10 more the the 4.7 magnum had. Can't remember what the torque was.

What kind of average mileage are you getting with the Hemi?

I just turned over 2,000 miles in the last couple days. I have also just added and ARE tonneau cover and according to the trucks computer I'm at 14 mpg (13.9 to be exact) on my most recent tank of fuel. That's about 50/50 mixed city & highway (but very short highway trips). I'm anxious to see what happens when I switch over to Mobil 1 in the engine and differentials.

I raced my buddy in his Hemi i would pull till 60 then he would pull.when we got around 8o i pulled on him . He has dual exhuast. I have tool box plus 250 lbs of stuff in bed, and the whole cab filled with tools. He was empty.Plus they have 40 more hp.

The Titan vs. Hemi argument is still too close to call. I'll just say that for a truck that supposedly has a good "40HP" on mine, it cant pull away from me. Now, the Titan vs every other V8 on the market is a different story. Dodge is the only one who has come close in a light duty full size truck (minus the Lightning and SRT10 of course).
Lets just wait for the NISMO Titan VS Ram SRT10 VS '06 Lightning.
