The flange on my tailpipe rusted out on my 2008 work truck, its the lowest end model whatever that is. I had a little trouble getting info on the pipe sizes so I thought I would share what I did. I have read on here that if it is not fixed quickly you can melt your wiring harness and end up with a $750 bill.
My tailpipe flange was completely gone and the flange on the muffler side was not in great shape so ordering a new tailpipe, while only $40, was not an option and I did not want to spend the money on a cat back system since the rest of my exhaust looked pretty solid and its a work truck.
Here are the steps I took-
1. Cut the flange area off the muffler, make to cut far enough back to get to clean pipe, the pipe has a crimp near the flange.
2. Pull the tailpipe off and cut the flange area off. The tailpipe will come out easily if not connected to the muffler.
3. Slide the tailpipe back in place and us a 2.5" id to 2.5" od reducer in between the tailpipe and muffler. (may want to use putty on the connections, I did not)
4. Secure with a 2.5" and a 2.75" exhaust clamp.

Some trucks have different size pipes, but mine had 2.5" od from the muffler and 2.75" od on the tailpipe. If yours is different then you will need different clamps and reducer.
I got the reducer and clamps from advance auto for ~$10 total. The reducer was Nickson 2.50" I.D. x 2.50" O.D. Connector
