Hey all, I've been looking for a good set of high flow catalytic converters but it seems none of the big vendors will ship non-CARB cats to California anymore. On Jegs, JC Whittney and Summin Racing's websites it says they won't ship such cats to California. What a bunch of BS! I need a set of hi-flows! Does anyone know of another website that's not full of BS? Also, what Magnaflow hi-flow cats would you guys suggest I look for? I'm not only looking for Magnaflows but they have so many to choose from it seems. Thanks all.

they will ship to cali they shipped mine
Did you order them before January 1st? I heard some new law kicked in this year which is the reason they say they won't ship to Cali anymore. I hope it's just a front and they'll still ship.

explain to them it's for a "racing" or "offroad" vehicle, that might work.

Heck you can order them and send to my house, then I'll try them on and tell you how great they are. J/k.. I do recall that pepboys carry magnaflow cats. Try to order on-line with them and they can ship to a store too. Website mentions :read: nothing on not being able to ship to Cali

The JBA shorties are CARB approved. I got some on order.

I'm ready to throw in the towel and just stay with my stock cats. I'm not too sold on the Stillen b-pipes.

i thought i read somewhere on here that the stock cats were falling apart and damaging engines ... then through in more FLOW from the shorties and they are at a higher risk to fail and do some damage if they fall apart on you...

That's what I thought as well...I just got off the phone with someone from jba and he said emissions wise they would be ok to pass a smog test, but any shop would fail you on a visual inspection...as far as the stillen b pipes...i am sold but they are expensive to me?????

the cats in the stillen b pipes were failing on some peoples trucks ... i believe they are doing a redesign or rebuild .. what ever you you want to call it .. they are upgrading/ fixing the cat problem on the stillen b pipes... and they are way over priced

I just ordered some Magnaflow cats from some place Warp recommended. I'll feel a lot better when I have them in hand.

As far as the JBA shorties, they are supposed to have the CARB stamp so they should also pass the visual inspection.

I was going to say...If you sent me the money I would buy them and ship them to you, you may not trust me enough, but I was willing to do it if you needed me to. The Stillen b-pipes I hope arent made with the same crappy metal as the headers. Sorry, I'm just not a Stillen fan

Thanks, O-Five. Imprt2nr also offered the same. Warp gave me a link to a website he said he recently got Magnaflows from. I ordered them Friday night, so hopefully I'm good to go. I'll know in a few days...

You should get them Tuesday or Wednesday. They have a distributor in So Cal, so shipping is really fast because of that.

Well, Warp. Now I'm a little worried. I got an email from Performance Peddler saying the cats would ship directly from the manufacturer, aka Magnaflow. When I spoke to John from SoCal MS last week, he said that Magnaflow told him they wouldn't ship non-CARB approved cats to California because of that gay *** new law. They can get fined and all that jazz. So, I might be back to square one. We'll see in a few days...Wish me luck.

Have you looked at Ebay??? I don't see that they will not send to California and I doubt they are as regulated.

So what is the deal with us Cali guys and these long tubes?? I am going to have to find a shop willing to put these on illegally for God knows how much money probably more than what the headers cost, cause I have nor the knowledge, time and tools to do it. 2nd after they are put on, have to keep my fingers crossed that I don't have a Christmas tree effect on my dash board and things run right. 3.... Paying more money for a costume tune to bring out the true effect of even going through the trouble of putting them on. Last but not least if I am pulled for a smog test I will have to bring it back to the shop that put them on, hoping they will remove them for probably a good amount of money put back on the stock headers, drive over pay to smog it.... then drive back over have the shop install the headers illegally again for another bundle of money..... on and on..... Now explain to me why after thousands of dollars and a headache later why its worth 50 Horse if that maybe more with tune????

Mine shipped directly from Magnaflow too. I called them because I never got a tracking number, and they told me they ship directly from manufacture.
