hi,
I dont like to use the gentex mirror buttons for my garage door, they are always on and i dont want me or my wife forgetting the garage door remote on the sunvisor.
we have multiple cars and if we leave one in the driveway with the remote anyone can easily open the garage door after busting in a window.
I pretty much did exactly this:

I took a spare one button garage door remote and put that thing in the overhead console. I have a Titan with a sunroof so my fwd sunglass holder overhead console is the small one. im sure for those with the large one their is more work to remove theirs.
pics:
Radio Shack button:
Gap between sunglass holder drop down and encasement:
Location between plastic standoffs on backside - i didnt measure exactly correct between the two and had to use a knife to cut the stand off in order for the buttom nut to mount:
Button installed - view at gap:
Button installed:
Thanks,
-J
