High mileage update

My 2011 Titan just rolled over 227,000 miles. I drive a lot for work so I put about 50,000 a year on her. So far everything has been pretty good. Had my transmission line burst while going 70mph, that wasn't fun. Had to replace the little relay hose thing to get my heater to work again. I'm still on the OEM brakes and rotors, but it's time to replace them due to a little shake when I brake.

Today I learned that both of my front hub assemblies are going out. I took it in bc I felt and heard something going on up front. Kind of a humming sound and I could feel it in the steering wheel. Firestone quoted me $907!! Nissan dealership quoted me $670. I did a search on here and saw good instructions on how to do the job myself, but I'm not very mechanically inclined and don't have a lot of tools so I'm wondering if I should just let the dealership do the work. Any advice? Thanks!

I also just installed a Borla muffler and resonated catless cajun b pipes and absolutely LOVE the new sound. Guy at the shop today was really impressed with it :)

If you dont have tools, and not very handy with them, get the shop to do it, 670 isnt too bad for a stealership price, I had my shop do one of mine for 500, but the other side is gone now too, so im doing it myself
Well I got with a buddy of mine that has all the tools to do the job and he's done this on his old truck before so I'm just going to order two Timkens and go to his house to put them on. I've also been watching a bunch of Youtube videos on how to do it. $220 for a pair of these isn't too bad at all.
Its relatively easy to do, pull off the brakes, take the 3 bolts out of the back of the hub, whack it with a rubber mallet, and it will fall out. Put the new one with the ABS wire in, tighten up the bolts and your good to go.

I actually just did this on my T a few days ago. Mine had failed completely, when I jacked the truck up I could grab the tire and move it back and forth a good amount in both directions . It was a fairly easy job, being the first one I had ever done. Hardest part was coaxing the old hub out with a BAH lol

You used the wrong tool. Upgrading from a "BAH" to a "BFH" sometimes makes things easier :)

Oh wow. Mine isn't anywhere near that bad, but I can definitely hear and feel it while driving. I ordered my replacements last night and will tackle the job next week when they come in. I'm hoping to replace my rotors and brake pads while I've got it taken apart.

Yeah it showed no signs of failing until I pulled out of my driveway and I felt and heard a horrible grinding noise from the driver side. Guess I can't complain, I was close to home!

I'm with you, if it's already apart, might as well do the routine items as well. I actually replaced my CV axle while I was in there because the boot had ripped a few weeks prior.

Figured I'd throw a middle of the job pic in.
