Alright, before i begin i have to say i have read everything on this site pertaining to the homelink system. Not only that, I have gone to homelink and gone through all of their instructions as well (video, phone, and typed!!!)... Still no luck with getting my garage door open!!! YES i am following the steps correctly, yet I have to be missing something.

I know i can get my homelink system tied in with my garage door remote. The light blinks and then goes to solid. So this tells me that i need to link it to the garage door opener machine....

here is a list of things that i have tried:

1. holding down the programmed button for different durations of time while trying to program the rolling code device
2. unplugging the garage door opener and plugging it back in.
3. pushing/holding/caressing the programmed button 3-12 times while the garage door is in "learn mode" for 30secs.
4. i went through steps soooooo many times.
5. positioning the truck under the garage door to eliminate distance.
6. on the fixed opener in the garage, there is a lock switch. tried both locked and non locked.
7. reset the homelink system and went through each and every button multiple times.
8. My roommate got his old garage door opener which worked for are old house, and he got that to work!

Am I the only person that can not get this thing to work?????

Any help would be AWESOME!

thanks

Mine works fine after screwing up a few times. I have a newer home, so I had to push the button on the back of the garage door opener and then you have 30 secs to program the homelink in your truck.

My garage door has a scramble code. After programming the homelink, I have to go back to the garage door opener and press a button on the back of the unit, then run back to the truck and program it with three or four short presses of the homelink program button. I believe this is covered in the homelink program instructions. Homelink site provides help, and they are also helpful on the phone.

mmmmmmmmmm where the hell did i put that gun????
HA

Seriously though, let me ask you this. Once i have programmed my homelink, and try to train the machine to learn my homelink, do i have to touch the remote anymore? No instructions say that i need to but i am running out of ideas.

yea after you push the button on your opener you need to returnto your truck and push and hold the button for the homelink to find the code. once it finds it your done. To test it you need to hold the homelink button for a couple of secs to work your garage door opener. I'm giving you this info from the top of my head. I just did this last week to mine.

so once i push the "learn" button on my opener machine, i have to HOLD the button down until it learns it. From all that i have read it says to
1. push firmly or
2. hold for a second or
3. hold for 2 seconds,
up to 3x time until it learns the code.

How do i know when it has learned my code if I am holding it down? the red light on the homelink just blinks rapidly and then goes solid after 2 secs.

mmmmmmmm. maybe i will try holding it down for the entire 30 seconds while the machine is in learn mode....

Even though we know all new garage door openers have the rolling codes and the learn button on the back of the opener, for some reason you need to follow the steps using the actual garage door remote. After you try to program the homelink using the remote press the learn button on the opener and that should work! At least thats how i remember programing it a few months ago

I hit mine for 1 second intervals for about 5 times before it worked

I know from my last house, not all openers are capable of linking. You may have one without the proper technology. Just a thought.

I have the same opener,Home Depot about 2 years ago,$220 area?
Mine set up right away on my 05 Titan.
Without insulting, maybe take a step back, ask someone to read your quick info card, and give it a try.
A couple of weeks ago I helped a friend who had done everything right also.
I don't know what I did different,it had been so long since mine I just followed the instructions again.
Maybe post your city and a fellow TT member can come on over

Do worry it is very hard to insult me.

I had my roommate read the instructions as well and try the whole process himself. Unfortunately when you have an IQ of a fly it doesn’t help much!

Well i am going to clear my head and start over when i get home. If anyone wants to come over and give it a shot, I got a six pack with their name on it!

I live in San Jose right next to downtown.

The other thing you might want to try is to program something else to determine if your homelink in the truck is working. I do remember struggling with this once with my homelink trailer light project which I don't use anymore. http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-parts-accessories/33728-wireless-remote-light-switch.html

I ended up solving the programming problem by changing the position of the remote to be a bit farther from the receiver than recommended. It was almost like the transmitter was saturating the receiver and recorded a distorted signal.

Thanks! Now that information I have NOT heard so far, so it does give me some hope!!!

As soon as i get home i will try messing around with the position of the transmitter. Hopefully i am getting a saturated signal and will be fixed by holding it further away!!!!

Cheers.
