How happy are you with your Titan?

Hey everyone! I’m a new member, but I’ve been checking out the site since I bought my Titan a couple of months ago.

I know that problems are what people come to forums to figure out, but it’s a bit odd to so many posts about pr Helms on brand new trucks. I’m trying to find out if this is normal for Titans or if these are just random occurrences.

All trucks have issues. I chose the Titan over an F-150 and the new Ram due their transmissions driving awkwardly on test drives. I thought the Titan was one of the smoothest, but it seems that there are a lot of complaints. I’ve had mine make some odd gear choices, but it’s rare and nothing as bad as the F-150’s 10 speed or the clunk that the Ram has.

I’d really like to get some wheels, tires and lift, but I hate to put that kind of money into it till I know it’s going to be a solid truck. I’m at about 2000 miles now with no issues, but think I might wait till at least 5000.

What is the general consensus on the Titans? Are you happy with yours?

For the most part, people with all these so called issues, have a post count similar to you. Not that I don't believe some but most reek of trolling. You say you have 2000 problem free miles, what makes you think it will magically fall apart now, or within the next 3000 miles ? Of course a lift (I'm not a lift person) could mess up that smooth ride you enjoy.

Going over 20k miles now on my 2017 with no major issues. I like how the Titan has improved over the years.

Here is a couple good threads to read … https://www.titantalk.com/forums/ti...com/forums/titan-general-discussion/36391-who-has-titan-highest-mileage-43.html

3rd Titan, certainly not a troll. Mine has been a POS with all kinds of issues since day 1. I WISH I had it as good as most people, I would be so happy, instead, this thing has become a major stress point in my life. 5,700 miles, Nissan Engineer coming on the 7th. I don't expect much resolution since I haven't had any in a year. And what's worse, my dealer is keeping the tickets open instead of filing a new one every time I go there to show them what's wrong, not giving me the docs I need to show NNA and make my case.

I had one significant warranty claim on my 2017 SV (new alternator). Other than this, it has been smooth sailing for my Titan. This was my first purchase of a full-size truck, and I tested every 1/2 ton on the market today. After 10 months and 15,000 miles, I'm very happy with having selected the Nissan.

Another thing you're seeing is these people bought a new design model year truck. You're never going to see a complete redesign roll out go 100% smoothly.

Drives better and costs much less than any other full size on the market!

I did have to find the squeak from some very noisy leaf springs but thats done now.

I also get a light rpm flutter going slow on inclines. Mid-grade gas helps alot with that so I know its not a mechanical issue.

But, GM's transmission gear searching sucks, Ram isnt much better and has reliability complaints, Ford was the next best comparable truck but costs $15-20k more for what you get than the Titan.

Count me in on the happy owners club! 8 months/8,000 miles, Titan S CC

Built to run on regular, you should not need anything else so go get it looked at. My friend is a chemist and that’s his scientific opinion.

On my second Titan and ZERO complaints, taking a run from New Jersey to south Florida in three weeks and look forward to it. I’ve done dozens of them in my 5 Frontiers and last Titan and were good rides this one will be even more pleasant.

I love my 17. I know there is the "so called issues" comment above, but there are going to be certain quirks with a new Gen truck, or in general. But I will saY this, the TSB/Transmission issue sure as **** isn't a "so called issue". It's real. It may not effect everyone but the last E update changed the truck a lot and even my dealerships senior mechanic made mention of the difference. It was a borderline safety concern. Other than that, I love my truck but it's easy to say there will always be complaints.

I am another happy customer. This '17 Titan CC SL is my first truck and the first one I've driven regularly since my dad's 75 Chevy Cheyenne. My family and I love it. It pulls our travel trailer like a champ. It seems to get better as I break it in more. I'm at 4600 miles now. I did get sideswiped at around 3000 miles and have been dealing with suspension issues since, the shop is still trying to figure it out. Nothing with the truck though, not accident related, has had any issues. I'd recommend it!

This is a tough situation to be in. Some dealers just aren’t concerned with customer service when you’ve already spent the money. Honestly, I was surprised at the lack of customer service from almost every dealership I visited. All brands. I guess people just walk and hand them money. Very little effort put forth to make a sale.

Some service departments won’t bother with troubleshooting. If they can’t look up a tsb on their computer in 30 seconds, they can’t fix it.

Back to the subject though. Having your own documentation about visits and problems will certainly help.

Back in 2005 I bought a Frontier which was also a first year design. I took it in for a door rattle a few times and finally there was a fix for it about 6 months later.

I’m seeing way more Titans on the road now, so any problems that are showing up frequently should start getting some fixes.

I bought an 05 Titan SE 4x4 KC a few months back and recently took it on a trip deep into BAJA.

You really dont know your truck until you are 20 hours from the border in the middle of some salt flats with a rising tide with moon dust pits and soft sand and truck wrecking boulders strew about over hours of bone crushing wash board.

Must say the Titan was a beast with no issues or complaints. Aired down to about 24 PSI and at about 35 - 40mph the washboard smooths out real nice with the weight and the power just lets you float sandy fluff with no worries.

I was worried that without a leveling kit and some bigger than stock tires that I would smack rocks but the Titan has as much clearance as a stock Tacoma with 32s on it - I didnt hit anything while doing my best low speed Ivan Stewart across the desert.

This Titan had no issue and I wouldn' hesitate to head back down and do it again tomorrow.

You can feel the Titan start to hesitate with a dirty air filter - so bring an extra - starts to feel like the e-brake is slightly on.

ALso no rattles - its bolted up solid - I didnt hear anything come loose while hammering the dirt.

I did lose a fog lamp but thats about it - Anybody recommend a good LED replacement?

I'm not 100% happy I am trying to make my Titan my own by adding custom touches. I have owned a Silverado, Ranger and 2 F250's by far my favorite truck was my second F250 it felt like a tank, rode smooth and reliable I traveled state to state building or repairing commercial jets. In 5 years I only replaced a battery and tires. My Titan second week of ownership check engine light comes on a blend door went out, the dealer left parts under the hood. In November I am having my exhaust done at Kenneys in Texas, then Amp retractable steps, leather interior from katzkin and next Thursday my 4 8in subs will be installed. Once I make my Titan mine I think I will be happier everytime I try to dump it I remind myself turning radius my parking at work our F150 doesn't cut it my space is too small and my Titan CC pulls in with minimal effort.

Just my humble .02 the truck rides smooth, my passenger seat when empty shakes like a possum ****tin peach seeds none of my trucks have ever had a seat just shake going down a smooth stretch of highway. When the titan is paid off I will be getting a Limited F150 EcoBoost what I truly want.

I saw the Kinney’s exhaust Titans on YouTube and I do like their ability to build a custom set vs trying to buy a prefab. Lots of tip and tip location options. I’ve always like dual tips, but the slightly curved bottom of the Titan bumper doesn’t really work well with that idea. Thought about having some cutouts done, but I don’t think I’m trying to get that serious with customization.

I’d like some wheels, exhaust, and maybe the Uprev tune. Wish they’d come out with some cool grills. The T-Rex mesh would be cool if the main grill didn’t have the border and the big T-Rex logo. The Katzkins are sweet too, but the stock cloth seats are pretty nice.

I don’t understand the passenger seat shaking thing either. Mine does it a little, but doesn’t seem to do it as much as it once did. Trucks rides smooth and but seat doesn’t look like it is.

I ended up trading in my 05 SE Titan (just about 155k miles) for a 2018 Titan SV Midnight Edition and so far it has been great.. I was really hesitant at first since my 05 was becoming a money pit and after about 10k of upgrades and fixing in 2 years I had enough.. but now just over the 500 mile marker on my new one and I love it so far.. Had some wobbles in the beginning but it is smoothing out.. only thing I've noticed is the whistling while fueling up lol.. but that isn't a deal breaker. I love this new one and received many compliments on how it looks so. No major issues yet *fingers crossed* because my 05 turned into a nightmare.. but damn did it sound good lol! I did up the warranty to 10 years just in case lol. To each their own I guess.

I just filled my tank and my average mileage based on a mostly local usage was still about or better than my Frontier was 15.8 mpg. I’m still very pleased, it has a very nice ride and much larger than the other truck including a larger tank so much farther range.

I hope it becomes the beast you want and you do. I plan on keeping mine for 10+ years. Im a huge Nissan person (300zx, Frontier, and now my Titan).

Unless it gets up to $6 a gallon in CA then I'd rethink that plan. But for now, the plan is to be my daily driver for the long foresable future.

It's not really the truck it's how I ended up with the truck my Jeep Grand Cherokee tanked in value by 10k in one year no accidents and low miles. I was using the Jeep to pull our atvs it did it just didn't do it well I went truck shopping not knowing my jeep dropped that bad it was the only full sized truck I could get that could eat my upside down and not spend 40k on a 2014. It was basically the Titan for 20k then my upside down or keep the jeep.

I like Nissan the truck tows our toys you don't feel the trailer. The first time towing with the jeep I thought I lost my trailer the hitch moving in the receiver was heard in the cab you had to get used to the banging and booming it was unnerving at first.

As my daily driver, my 2017 CC SV 4X4 just passed 25K miles last week. The only problem I have seen so far is the paint near the rear wheel wells is starting to ripple a bit after a road trip from Denver to San Antonio and back. Other than that I have been very happy with the truck, it's comfortable, drives smooth, is fast when you want/need it to be, and doesn't seem to mind hauling whatever I've asked it to. My plan is to keep it for at least 200K miles.

I bought my Titan November of 2016 First Year of the re-design. I love this truck - 34K and no major issues. I especially love the fact that it was sold to me as a between a 1500 and a 2500. Well, it successfully replaced my Chevy 3500.... I love the motor - I love the heavy duty trailering options. Two weeks ago my wife had to drive it, and she said it drove better than her 2017 CRV Touring - which it cost me a 2018 Pilot - and the Titan still drives better. Awesome Truck!!!!

I have a 2017 PR XD that I bought new in April. Just under 8k now. That includes pulling a 27ft TT from Colorado to Illinois and back. I love this truck. It has been flawless in almost every regard. After the warranty expires I'll probably delete. I hate all this EPA crap. I would buy again in a heartbeat.

I came here looking for answers regarding the transmission so I'm that new guy that signed up to complain lol. Bought a 17 Titan and have about 4500 miles on it and my only complaint has been the transmission. I posted about that in another post. Overall I'm very happy though and as far as the transmission goes I've been leaving it in 4/5 manual around town and 6/7 on the interstate and it makes the drive much more pleasant. I will ask about the TSB for the transmission when I bring it in for the first service.

But like I said I'm very happy overall.
