How low before you cross the line?

We have been dealing with a pretty decent Sales person (Believe it or not) and it is now time to buy.

How low should I go before crossing the line and being an a$$hole?

I am aware the Rebates are now $2000 for the Crew Cabs and the 06s are around the corner but they don't appear to be going lower than Invoice.

Should I jump on the Invoice price or try for about $1000 or so under invoice excluding rebates?

I'm negociating for a 2005 LE CC, big tow, sliding bed extneder, floor mats, in California. Invoice is 30556 plus TTL 2750 is 33306 minus rebate 2000 is 31306. I have a deal for $30500 OTD. Does this sound good? I figure that it is a hold back of 845 and I'm getting 800 of it.

Thanks,

John

Hope to own it tomorrow after I call about ten dealerships to beat the quote.

Yeah why feel the need to turn into an a$$hole.....that's the one thing that I hated the most about working retail, and even working where I am now is that if someone feels that they've been wronged, then they turn into a major jerk. Yeah you have every right to be pissed when you feel you have been wronged, but from the perspective of a retail employee, or even a sales rep such as myself, it only makes you look bad to be an a$$hole. You can get alot done if you act professional and keep your cool. You'll probably get alot further than if you act like an a-hole. Most people I know that have dealt with someone that has turned into that usually sits on the issue rather than if you are professional and keep your cool. Just keep it in mind.

Why do you need to be an asshole?
You definitely don't. Tell them you like truck and the dealership, but you're on a fixed budget. If your credit check is good, they'll know you're a serious buyer and be ready to deal. Acting like a schmuck will only hurt your cause.
