I am looking into a new SUV for the wiff, but need something MPG friendly, which means hybrid I think.

How hard are they to work on?
Do they take more maintenance other then standard oil change?
how long do they last?
Any troubles with them?

Some general information would be nice. I know nothing about them mechanically and the dealerships up here(Cheyenne WY) are Retards!

Thanks.

I think you really need to check out the differences in mpg and the price. With an hybrid SUV your only looking at a couple of mpg difference with much higher price vs the non-hybrid version. You may be looking a deal though that this doesnt apply to. How many miles will you have to put on it before you make up that difference? I have seen figures that show the batteries won't even last long enough to break even.

I can't help you with the maintenance/ mechanical standpoint, but just thought I would throw that out there.

Ford Escape is 34mpg for the hybrid. Over a 10mpg difference.
