Sorry to hear you are having so many problems. I'd definately say your milage is off, I was averaging around 14 in town and I was lifted.
I absoutely LOVED my titan until the time came to sell it. I took a worse beating on this truck than I ever had any other vehicle in my life and I've owned dozens. I would still reccomend one though to anyone who planned to drive it until the wheels fell off, but if you ever plan to sell it I'd say something else may be a better choice.

Hope you luck changes for the better soon

Did they show you the old motor? Sounds like they may have "fixed" the old one. That or there are some ECU issues. Very odd you get 2 with the same problem. Try another dealership if you can also.

If you are 4x4 it sounds almost right. I was getting 11 mpg in the city and 15 to 16 on the highway. If you bought this truck as a gas saver you were reading the wrong magazine. A gas saver it is not. As far as the knocking I was under the impression that all of them knocked. Sometimes in the morning mine would sound like a diesel engine and one time the guy next to me asked if it was a Titan Diesel. LOL True story. It never made a difference in power and it always stopped after awhile of knocking. Its all the valves in this engine that makes it knock. Enjoy the truck or trade it in on a toyo prius.

I think you may have a misconception of what knocking is. If they all did it, Nissan would be out of business. You're talking about valve train noise, which is completely unrelated, and really not an issue.

I've read that some of the noise when cold, is the injectors or injection pump, but I do not know.

Maybe you have a tranny affecting the engine? Or the ECU? More detail please.

Not sure about selling it out-rite but if you traded in a lifted truck dealers wont give you ****. I know my Buddie bought a 1500 dodge hemi 4x4. Put a 6" suspension and 3"body lift. 20" rims and tires and decked it out from one end to the other with crome and installed an in dash dvd complete sound system. I think he said it cost him almost $8000. Six months later tryed to trade it in on a diesel and all any dealership would give him was $13,000. That was a Chevy dealership dodge didn't even want it. Said lifted trucks were probably off road-ed and the average consumer doesn't want them.

I know mine makes a little noise, dont notice it since I put the new tires.
Im getting 14-18 with mud grips.

I feel for you! It's terrible to have a new truck and not be able to enjoy trouble-free operation. :( We definitely pay enough for these trucks - you shouldn't have to worry about them breaking down. But nothing is perfect, and these things happen.

If you are otherwise happy with the Titan itself but just don't want to deal with having a second motor installed, I would try to explore your options. Maybe you are eligible for a buyback, or perhaps your dealer will cut you a decent deal on a trade. It sounds like you just have a problematic truck. I had an 05 that was practically trouble-free aside from the original brake judder and some squeaks...then my 06 was a bucket compared to the 05.

Good luck with whatever you choose! :bandit:

Have you been using 87, 89, or 92+ octane? I was told by a Nissan Master Tech who owns a Titan that only highest octane should be used in the Titan regardless of what the owner's manual says. Could you be experiencing engine knock that is normally associated with too low octane of the gas being used?

That is all I ever used. 93 Octane but I still had noise.

take it back! What is the dealer saying?

Top end noise, dealer might just try and explain it away as valve train, injectors.....etc, and say its normal. Bottom end noise, they would be hard pressed to say its normal.
