i think youll own that award. wont be bedlinging the whole thing. just a couple thing here and there

I'm just about done de-chroming my truck, all I have left to do is the lower half of the front. The only thing that I took off to do was the side steps and upper grille. Scuffed up the chrome with scotch pad and then put on about 2 - 3 coats of bed liner. Had to touch up the handles, but that's about it. I've done the handles, mirrors, rear bumper, side steps, tailgate bib/burger, and upper grille.

Geez....lol...why the hell would you want to do that?!

The X and Y generation want to be different.

I HATE the chrome. i live in san antonio texas and anything chrome makes you look a little ghetto. I had dark rims on my mustang and like the darker look. Ive got some pretty good scratches on the back bumper and figured it would be a good fix. while im at it, finish the truck off by bedlining the toolbox

lol...is that it? I must be gettin' old. I don't understand this whole blacked out, dull black thing, but I have to respect others nerve to make such dramatic changes. I think it is an age thing but also probably where in the country you live.

I've done my rims, front/rear bumper, front grill, tailgate bib and campershell.....yes, campershell. I've still got the handles, cowl and whatever else I can get my hands on :eyebrow:
I love the stuff. It's easy and looks mean when your done! :teeth:

What I did was sand the "pretty" off of it, just to get the shine off, with 80 grit. Clean with alcohol, paint thinner, or lacker thinner. Spray a thin coat of your Rustoleun bed coating for a tacky base, dry, continue painting at least 2 or 3 coats or until your happy with it! Let dry an ta da! :redblob"

Best tip I can give you for spraying is start far away (12" or so) the stuff comes out hard and if you're too close you'll get a big drip where it hit.

Well back bumper is done. I'll take pics in the morning.
Notes for next time: gloves and more newspaper

too save on bedliner i would spray with flat black first, then hit with bedliner.

Actually, you can use the black sandible primer and then the bedliner. Kind of a double texture to it. BTW, be careful when you start bedlining your truck. It probably won't stop there and you'll be the only person on your block with a bedlined mailbox.
