Ideas for an Arlington meet

I was seeing if there would be any interest in a meet at Veterans Park in Arlington to play some frisbee golf. I have never played but everyone says its real fun.
We should have plenty of room to park and there are grills to cook food. There is a playground there as well if kids come. I can go out there this week or next and find us a spot to get all the food together. There are Pavillions to reserve but with it being an off season I don' think we should have any problems with a place to set up. There is no alcolhic beverages allowed since it is a city park.
The frisbees used should be under $10 and I have been told to get 2 or 3.
I was looking at December 15th or 16th.

Yeah, you need two or three because they are pretty much just like golf. You have a driver, putter etc. Probably gonna be pretty cold to play frisbee golf in December.
With this weather we have been having its hard to think about it being cold. I was just throwing the idea out there.

damn. you guys are too far out for me to go.:crying:
I don't think that you will get much paricipation this time of year. The dates that you have chosen are close to Christmas, and most will be too busy to make it. We have deliberately stayed away from scheduling meets in December for this reason. We had only 5 Titans show for the meet this past Sunday. Interest in having meets seems to all but disappear this time of year. We also stay away from scheduling in January for obvious reasons. We have met in February, and actually had really nice weather, even though this isn't usually the norm in February. We could always do a meet at a restaurant or bar sometime in January and/or February. Our next outdoor meet probably won't happen until the weather gets warm again, around March or April. These are just my thoughts based on what I have seen the past couple of years. I'm not saying that it can't happen, but I feel like it probably won't due to busy schedules. I don't want you to be discouraged by lack of interest. We'll make it happen, it will just most likely have to wait a while. See ya down the road somewhere.

Thanks for the info Red. I wasn't able to make the last meet due to it being opening weekend of deer season and I couldn't miss that.
I will just put this idea on the back burner until spring so we can hopefully have a large turn out.

How about if we have a meet we all get together and help Ray get his rent house back in shape?
I'm a disc golf junkie - I'd be up for it sometime in the near future.

I'm all for it. How 'bout it Ray? I know that you would help out any of us if the tables were turned. Let us help you get your place back into shape.

You say when!
found the other thread... when is the "help Ray" meet?
Im down for sure! Even at this time of year! Im huge into disc golf and have been wanting to play Veterans for a while. I only play grapevine(bear creek). I have yet to go to a meet and want to attend. I used to attend many Ls1 meets and have been wanting to get back into it.

If anyone wants to go, even like 3 or 4 people, which is all you need for a good fun round... I have about 20 discs and a friend of mine has about 25 so we could lend some people some. Also Acadmey Sports have quite a few decent Innova Discs for about $6-7 a piece. You really only need 3 discs to start out, A driver, midrange, and putter. You can get a Valkyrie distance dirver, a Shark midrange, and a Avair putter, which is about $22 at Acadmey and have a great starter set.
