Ok guys, I had a nice hangover from a party the other night, wanted to jam on my way back to the house the next morning. Turns out, my radio is fried. I took it to the dealership, they said it would be $1,024 to replace plus $100+ for labor. I said f*** that. I decided to go to crutchfield, went to their outlet and they apparently will send me everything I need and the Kenwood touchscreen for the price. It's not bad; however, I am a little sketchy if everything will fit right. What do you guys think? Kenwood DDX418 DVD receiver at Crutchfield Outlet

Ok, there's been almost 60 views now. Will somebody please give me your $0.02? I've never ordered from Crutchfield and I don't know if the bezel will fit because I always see people complaining about bezels and radio depth.

I have the kenwood dnx7140 with a dash kit and it all fits perfectly. I think a grand is outrageous for a unit without navigation. I didn't pay anywhere close to that for my head unit. You Should be able to find everything new and shipped to you for 700 or less.
Either way, the kenwoods fit without any issues.

I'm wondering what the hell kind of stereo you had in the first place to warrant $1k in replacement cost.

As far as Crutchfield, they're a solid source to order from. Not really the cheapest, but you do get great customer service.

And like what was mentioned earlier, there's a bar behind the head unit that will limit what you can install. Be sure that whatever you order, indeed, has been successfully installed in a Titan.

Pheww! Glad I got some replies, I needed the input. Ok so I found the radio on crutchfield when they "outfitted" my truck so that means it should fit right? One main thing I want to know is if the radio fits and does the bezel fit! I would hate to go install this, and something not work.:ftard: I need this for my trip to nola in a few weeks. Relevant: I'm going to a shop in nola to install the lift on my truck. :redblob" Does anyone have this exact radio in their Titan? Thanks again guys!

They're pretty conservative as far as what they say will fit in what. So, if they say "ok" you should be fine. If not, you shouldn't have trouble returning it.

That's all I got. I replaced all my audio, except the head unit.

I have 2 rockford fosgate 6x9's in the shop, I just don't know how to put them in. I also have two 10" rockford fosgate punch p2's that I never could put in stock radio because I need that converter thing. I should be able to just put them right in with the new head unit right? Thanks for your help by the way. I'm a stickler about getting things right the first time haha

I would imagine the head unit has the rca jacks needed to add the amps. All seem to have at least 3 sets of outputs nowadays.

The speakers are pretty easy to install. The door panels "pop" out. There are a few screws hiding to unscrew, then you just lift the panel up and out. The speaker will be staring at you. The head unit is a bit of a nightmare to do, because you have to disassemble some of the dash to get to the stereo.

Oh god. I'm sure I can find some guides on here or google to disassemble. I want my sound system to be amazing. It has to at least be over 9000. ;D

Funny thing. As soon as the iPad came out I was like Holy s*** that would be awesome to put in the T! Then I realized I didn't have enough to just go and buy an iPad and then I don't have the craftsmanship to make a bezel for it. I do, however, have the engineering/electrician skills to be able to make it happen. Oh well :(

The kenwood will fit perfectly as will the dash kit. Like I said, mine is the touchscreen 7" kenwood dnx7140. The kenwoods are at the top of the quality scale as far as car stereo and video go these days. There are several other brands that are of the same quality and it just becomes personal preference as far as the software platform. The kenwoods do have any and all connections you can imagine. With the subs they have an independent control for how much bass you want coming from them in the built in audio controls and equalizer. I have pretty much everything hooked up on mine, Bluetooth, Sirius sat radio, garmin navigation built in, DVD player built in, iPod/iPhone cable/dock, USB plug as well as a whole laundry list of other crap that I forget is there most of the time. these radios will do so much crazy stuff now it's almost scary. I still think a grand is a whole lot of $ for any of the radios. I paid something around 500-600 for mine brand new shipped to my door. At that time it was the second best radio kenwood made. The only thing they had that was better was their exelon class and I honestly have no idea what it has that mine does not.
I absolutely will go to bat for kenwood, they have some kick @ss products and the install was a piece of cake. Don't let it intimidate you. It's basically plug and play if you get the correct wire harness that connect the kenwood to the Titan. I am no car stereo guy and the install took me about an hour start to finish. The only thing that was a pain afterwards was running the antenna for the sat radio all the way out through the third brake light bolt hole.
I think you will be very happy with the kenwood just do a little shopping around. I know you can get a much better price on it.

Thanks man you've been a great help! I'm getting the 6.1" screen mainly because I'm already forking out a grand for my lift so this will hopefully do fine and it's only $279 from crutchfield w/ free shipping and installation kit. Pretty good deal compared to other places I checked. I am soooo ready to get this bad boy in. Thanks again for everything guys.
