Hey guys, just want to introduce myself my name is Brett and I'm currently in the market for a truck. I've been looking for a couple months now gathering information about every truck known to man. I've always owned Honda cars and very familiar with them but of course they don't make a full sized truck. I started by reviewing the big three and they all seem to have there fair share of powertrain problems. Almost bought a ford 5.4 ( 04-08 ) let the broken spark plugs and cam phasers go until I noticed a lot of them were also having transmission problems. My number one goal is to get the most dependable truck I can afford for my family and work. This endeavor led me to the Titan as it seems they have been doing well. From what I've read I'm going to try to find a 08+ in crew cab as that seems to be where the reliability really picked up. Im also hoping to find one with the bigger tow capacity as I do remodel homes and sometimes tow. All that being said I hope I end up on the other side of the fence a Titan owner soon they seem like great trucks! Also I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on perks in certain models/ ones to stay away from. I have Hurd about the paint issues and looking to avoid that if possible, was there a certain year that paint got better? Thanks for any help ahead of time.

I think paint is all about, if it was taken care of. My 06 I traded in on my 15 had a few scratches, but when you cleaned it up it looked pretty good. It was kept outside for the better part of 7 years. There was a little spot above the passenger side door that the clear was giving away, but the rest was good. In 8 years the 06 never left me sit once. That's why I bought another.

Good to know I've always religiously waxed every month.i live in Florida so the sun is rough. That being said its only as good as the owner before it! I was at a lot the other day and saw a beautiful white 05 but when I got close it had huge chunks of paint missing down to the primer around the bed and back window and clear missing on both fenders.I'm in no rush so I'm sure I will find a good one with patience.I may take a second look at some older Titans to stay in budget. Right now I'm just gathering as much information as possible to be happy with the purchase. Thanks for the reply. It's always a good sign to see someone buy again.

Search around. You will find the right one. I just picked up my 2013 CC4X4 SV with only 16,000 miles on it for $26K out the door. I also researched and read as much as I could before I bought mine.
From my research, I found that they last a very long time, can take a good bit of abuse, have adequate power and overall perform well with a little bit of owner upkeep.
I dont drive mine daily but when i do use it, it will be for trips and pulling my airplane trailer.
Good luck with your search
