Inferior HID kits

Well after racking my brain trying to figure out why in the heck my lights interfere with my radio sometimes. Well i THINK i have come to a conclusion. I bought my kits of Ebay......first mistake. Now......a ballast operates at some frequency (we will say 120 hz), and radio waves are in in hertz as well. Well in AL the radio stations have to "power down" at night for regulations and rules. So whatever waves this ballast is working on is causing an interference during the low power hours of the night. My guess is the people that spent the extra money on the premium kits are not having these issues. Correct me if i am wrong. Hope this helps anyone contemplating buying a HID retrofit kit......you get what you pay for. Unfortunately i got "misslelau

I have been wanting to buy an HID kit as well, and saw the kits on ebay. Which kit did you purchase, and how much did you pay? Thanks for the info.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But your experience is exactly what I've been afraid of and has kept me from goin HID.
I'm definitely not an expert on Hid's or anything, but I had the same problem on my land rover. Turned out to be a bad rf blocker installed on the lines behind the radio. Not sure if that would fix it but it might be worth a try. Sorry the kits are doing that by the way as I was looking at them too.
I bought my kit from HID4U. Thats the name of his store. The brand of HID kit is Xentech. They were about 75-80 bucks. I do have an aftermarket Alpine unit installed. I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not. I do know it only started after the lights were installed. I am a electronics idiot!!!! But i think i have this problem narrowed down now. I want the HID lighting....it's awesome, but i think i need to go with a better brand now. I am going to double check all of my connections this weekend and see what happens.
I would think it has something to do with the ground (-). I have the same lights from Ebay on my Titan as I do on my '06 F250 Powerstroke and I only get the interference on the Titan.

The reason I say that is because I put in a "common grounding point" for everything I added to the truck (i.e. stereo, gauges, DVD, Nav, HID's, etc.) on my diesel, but not on my titan.

After realizing what I had done, I went back and installed a common grounding point for the titan and I have no problems what-so-ever with radio interference. Maybe someone else will chime in with another way to solve it, but that's how I solved that problem...

And just to add...HID kits from ebay (depending from who) are just as good as the kits you can get elsewhere for more money. It's all about who's installing them and if they know how to solve a problem when they encounter one.

Thanks guys:cheers:
