Hello:

I am new to this forum and kindly request some advice from forum members who have experience with installing a toolbox (the "old-fashioned way"). Allow me to provide some background first...

I recently traded my 2014 Chevy Silverado for a 2017 Nissan Titan. When I purchased the Silverado, I installed a "slim-profile" UWS toolbox with **J-hooks** onto the bed.

Although I traded my Chevy now, I kept the toolbox (still in mint condition) in hopes it would also fit on my new Nissan Titan. Given the Titan's Utility track systems, the toolbox fits across the truck but can't be secured (i.e., with the J-hooks I used for the Chevy).

Ok, one may suggest to purchase the Titan's custom-built toolboxes. Well, yes, but I actually prefer using the toolbox I already have. That said, does anyone have an idea/recommendation how to work around this installation issue (i.e., not being able to hook the J-hooks underneath)?

Thank you in advance,
Tom

Mount it to the utility rack with some cone nuts and bolts/all thread. That would be pretty easy and slick way to do it, could even cut a thin metal strip to fit in the utility tracks and you could then loosen it up and slide it back if need be.

Indy:

Thank you for the prompt response... I will check it out. Sounds like a good idea. Will require some additional thinking given the holes in the toolbox are top down. Cone nuts would slide sideways into the rails.

As I'm in the midst of also moving, I don't have access to many of my tools right now. If it requires some custom built solution, I may have to wait until things will settle.

But again, thank you for providing some ideas... 'very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Tom

My thought was drill new holes in the side of the tool box to line up with the tracks, but could also come up with a bracket system for a drop down approach fairly easy too, plenty of ways to approach it, just depends on how carried away you want to get.
