When I was shopping for my truck, I really wanted the Nav system, but couldn't justify the cost of getting one equipped with it, since you are required to get alot of other packages that I wasn't interested in. The LE pretty much comes the way I like it. So, I decided to get an aftermarket setup, and found a great deal on a used but in great shape Pioneer AVIC-9DVD system with a huge 8" widescreen included. It was really easy to install if you have any prior experience in installing and can solder.
I made all the connections on the M98 connector behind the radio controls. I then mounted the unit under the passenger seat, and the monitor above the radio. The GPS antena went near the windshield jut behind the light sensor for the auto headlights. The voice activation microphone was installed just right of the drivers side visor. There is plenty of room in this truck and hiding the wires was really easy.
The system works outstanding, and I have no complaints thus far. The voice recognition is awesome, alowing you to name addresses and simply call them out later. The system also plays DVD movies. For the video sound, I wired into the AUX plug behind the radio, but I am going to need to get a PIE to boost the output. I wanted to take pics of the install, but I couldnt stop once I got started. Ended up taking me about 2 hours to do so it was over before I knew it.
