installed resonated tip - not impressed.

Finally got around to having a shop install my resonated tip and have it exit before the rear passenger tire. Looks great, but I'm not happy with how my truck sounds now. I was surprised how much quieter it got. It took away all the throatyness of the tone, but yes it did clean it up some. I'm not sure I like the trade off though. It made my truck sound like I just have a cheap-o muffler swap unlike how it sounded before. When I turned my truck on people knew it wasn't stock.

I have jba shorties with removed secondary cats with borla xr1 muffler. anybody notice this with their tips? My setup just sounds so wimpy and cheap now....

The new tip is altering the sound frequencies and tone of the exhaust gasses. It may be tuned at a sound frequency that cuts out sound waves at a certain frequency. You might have to experiment with the length of the resonator. The sound and amount of flow is the same just the frequency is making a lot of the noise in-audible to the human ear.
just get a spintech muffler ... and youll see how bad *** can it sound..
it will change sound once it "breaks in"...mine 8 months later doesnt sound nething like it did when i first put it on
Ok, yeah I was wondering if there was some sort of a break in period because of the packing. I will roll around with it for a while. It sounds really good with the windows up and doesnt drone near as much and it did cut the CIS down to about a quarter of what it was before.
That Borla muffler is a pretty big beast, I dont see why you would want to put on a resonated tip with that muffler. Most of the people using them are running the Dynomax bullets or some small type muffler that is crazy loud and they just want to turn it down a notch or 2 but keep the the loudness somewhat.

I was wanting the tip to just get rid of the CIS sound, but I wasn't expecting it to take away so much of the throaty sound the muffler produces.
i've got two on my dual out CB extreme and love it. i've never heard it without the tips but i like how it tightens up the tone. what size outlet on your tip ? it should be atleast 4".
Borla ProXS is deep, throaty and has zero CIS sound.

I thought about that muffler, even before I thought about putting this tip on. I may still consider it but I already noticed my tone getting a lot better so we'll see. The tip outlet is 3.5" I have a 4" I could install as well but where I have it coming out the 4" looked really tacky.
it does make a difference on the outlet. when i ran my bullet i had a 4 1/2 outlet. i think that's what the bullet boys are also running.
yup i have a 4.5" outlet on mine eddie...sounds awesome....ive said it before was doin some offroadin one day and the tip fell off i knew instantly when it did stopped and said something is wrong....turned around and there it was layin on the ground...its that night and day diff....wouldnt have it without the tip
post pics of the side exhaust setup. ive been running around a few months with it straight piped under the cab. had the mbrp, took it off and left the open pipe. tryina find a piece of 3.5" stainless pipe to replace my muffler, its so abnoxious straight piped that i cant go back to a muffler
