I put my truck in 4wd for the first time since I bought it tonight and I noticed that I can "hear" the truck more when it's in 4wd. The noise from the front is a droaning sound that gets louder when I step on the gas and quieter when I let off the gas.

This is my first 4wd so just want to see if what I am hearing is normal or should be checked out. I assumed it was the front diff, but just wanted to see. Thanks

My '05 was considerably noisier in 4WD than when not in 4WD. I switched out the front diff and transfer case to Royal Purple and the noise lessened but was still noticeably louder than when in 2WD. On the '08 is doesn't seem as loud when in 4WD, but I think the '08 may have more soundproofing in it.

Very normal. You think this truck's front diff is loud, you should have heard my '95 F-150!!!! Plus, that truck even drove a lot different. Steering wheel fought you a bit on turns. I don't notice that on this truck.

Its normal to hear and feel a little something extra. When the front is free spinning in 2wd, there is no load on it. When the front is engaged and under load, a little extra noise is normal...

Thanks everyone. Just wanted to make sure I was not going crazy.
Well, of this we have no control, nor can we diagnose it. Your truck, on the other hand, there, we may be able to help..
