Please forgive me---or point me to the original---if this is a dupe.

I am the new owner of a beautiful 2015 Titan. The original owner put in some cheap, carpet-type floor mats.

I am looking at replacing them with what is called "floor liners" . . . possibly Weathertech.

But I have noticed that the greatest wear and dirt accumulation in my previous vehicles occurs where I rest my left foot: over near the left side of the footwell---to the left of the brake pedal.

All vehicle manufacturers apparently put a nice little sloping place there for us to rest our left foot.

But many of the floor mat and floor liner manufacturers do NOT cover that spot.

In fact, floor mat and floor liner manufacturers' photos posted on web sites showing their installed products seem to try desperately to avoid showing that portion of their products.

Even when I look at Weathertech liners on the RealTruck web site, some photos appear to show it covering the area completely, and some show it covering only the bottom few inches that spot---but when I drill down to liners for my particular truck, the image shows a driver side liner that does NOT completely cover the little left foot rest area.

I do not want any surprises when I open the box, and I definitely want that spot completely covered by the liner/mat.

Question: Is there a brand that absolutely positively covers the left foot rest area?

Why don't companies understand that the left foot rest place needs to be covered by a liner?

Thanks.

I know my Husky liners are contoured almost exactly to your posted pictures. I don't believe anyone offers anything else?

Looks ok but I'm not sure the pic shows the actual Nissan Titan mats.

Hey, NRA_Guy. The reason that area or pad isn't covered - called the "dead pedal" - is to avoid your foot slipping, when used in its originally intended purpose. It's a place to brace your foot (in sports cars for example) when driving hard, and originally was intended to position the foot closer to level with the clutch pedal for quick shifts.

Now, one might argue that most of us don't race our cars or Titans, and I've not seen one with a manual transmission, but the thought is, don't put anything there that might cause your left foot to slip.

Bottom line, I don't think you are likely to find what you are looking for as part of the floor mat, at least not easily. There are dead pedal covers that are separate, designed to look like the accelerator pedal. Not sure about fitment, but maybe something like that would work for you? Here's an example at JEGS. dead pedal cover | JEGS. Just google dead pedal or dead pedal cover and a bunch of options will come up.

Good luck, and let us know if you do solve the issue.

The 3D Maxpider mats work very well. I had them in my Frontier and loved them, so I got a set for the '15 Titan. I tried to drag & drop a photo but it wouldn't work?? Where the normal mats have holes for the retainer hooks the 3D units have a recessed spot to cover the hook and no holes to let water/debris through. The back of the mat has a grippy texture that keeps them from sliding around.

As you can see from the pic the dead pedal is almost completely covered and there is minimal debris above the end of the 3D mat. I have no reservations recommending these to anyone. If you haven't already got something these would serve you well.

Many thanks dreep and Mach1tosh.

Yeah I've heard the history of the dead pedal and racing, but if that is the reason, floor liner manufacturers need to evolve into the 21 century.

The 3D MAXpider looks VERY promising. I will check them out. This is what they show in one photo:

PS: My brother drives an old Toyota Camry, and when I was discussing this with him (we are both mechanical engineers and do our own car work), he showed me the floor in his Camry. Toyota puts a heavy vinyl section in the dead pedal area---instead of the carpet that covers the rest of the floor. So his dead pedal area showed no wear or tear.

Thanks again.

check out the husky x-act liners. in my new F150, they really cover everything in the driver footwell; including the dead pedal.

This is the weather tech. I left my stock mats under it. So it doesn't "hook" in. But it doesn't move at all. Hope this helps.
Looks like your WeatherTech does not cover more than the lowest few inches of the dead pedal. That seems to be the industry norm.

I bought my 2015 Titan slightly used (12,000 miles) and it did not come with factory mats---just some parts house or dollar store cheap fabric mats that are useless and ugly.

Thanks.

I work in cleaning/detailing and see some pretty bad floor coverings, from cardboard to layer upon layer of rubber/carpet mats. Some people think this will help but all it does is trap moisture between each layer and cause chronic fogging of the windows and almost permanent saturation of the base layer of carpet and underpad.
Virtually any OEM mat will not protect the carpet underneath and the Betty Boop, Yosemite Sam and Tinkerbell mats are virtually flat and prevent almost nothing from getting into the carpet.
Michelin and Rubbermaid are pretty good for loose lay rubber but they will drain themselves onto the carpet unless you are really careful about removing them and you will still get sand, fir needles and the like underneath.
Sometimes you just :rollingey and move on.

The 3D maxpider; Part #: FL-5515BK1 is what I got from https://www.partsengine.ca/u-guard-3d-kagu-maxpider-floor-mat-in-black-p-54811.aspx which is the Canadian supplier.
I thought I had a picture of the whole mat, they fit great and even extend over the door sill so any liquid will run out of the truck instead of under the mat. I'll take pic tomorrow and post it up for you
Thanks. That is great info. I have been looking closely at 3D Maxpider products. It appears that they only make front floor liners for my truck---not a back floor liner.

At least when I click on front and rear 3D Maxpider liners for my 2015 Titan King Cab, I get "Does not fit your vehicle." I am not sure what the fitment problem is---seems to be the back liner. Maybe 3D Maxpider only makes rear floor liners for Titan Crew Cab trucks.

I hate returning items to vendors.

I may just go with their front liner.

The only other possible candidate that seems to cover the dead pedal AND has a rear liner that fits my truck is made by Aries.

Any thoughts about the Aries brand floor liners?

Here's a shot of the driver's side mat shows the raised area that covers the hooks, the way the mat goes over the sill to keep debris from falling through and the nicely raised edge at the rear to contain water and debris.
I looked at the site where I got mine and they don't have a king cab rear mat either. Probably due to the relatively small # of king cabs made compared to crew cab models.
Good luck with your search.
