2005 Se 4x2 King Cab Msrp $28,900
Dealer Quoted Me $23,700
I Subscribed To Consumer Reports Where They Are Suppose To Tell Me Dealer Cost. This Report Told Me Dealer Cost $25,500
But I Know No One Sells Vehicles Below Cost.
I Appreciate Your Input, Thank You.

Welcome to the site gcole. That sounds like a good deal to me, as long as those numbers are right.
Good luck with the Titan shopping.

Nobody can fairly and accurately answer your question without knowing, "EXACTLY" what the truck is, i.e. Model and ALL Options. Also how is the dealer applying the rebate in that price, i.e. if a $2000 rebate were applied, would it LOWER that price even more, or is the rebate already included? Lastly, just as a final check, what is the dealer invoice amount, that the dealer is telling you and how is that price in relation to it? Just check the math. As far as, is a good deal? That can only be "DECIDED ON," by you. My opinion is if you are close to us, than ANYTHING MORE than $500 UNDER Dealer Invoice is WAY TOO MUCH! That is "BEFORE" ANY rebate is applied to LOWER the price even more! If you are not close to us, then I think somewhere between our offer to as much as Dealer Invoice, is GOOD. OVER Dealer Invoice, is NOT GOOD! But that is just my opinion, and here is a little more of it:

Go to edmunds.com, build a Titan according to the options you want. Then compare it to the dealer invoice at your local dealer. Ask the dealer in relation to dealer invoice, how is he pricing it without the rebate included, i.e. $500 UNDER or $200 over. Be careful with the rebate as the final price may include it, and the REAL price is MUCH higher than you are being led to believe. Always compare prices to dealer invoice and not MSRP. MSRP is only valuable when shopping and comparing at the actual dealerships. You can use the "factory sticker" to know whether or not you are comparing "apples to apples," from one dealer to the next. However, when you are actually talking "final sale price," it should be compared with the dealer invoice and your printed out copy of "the dealer invoice amount," calculated on edmunds.com . ALSO, ignore their TMV (True Market Value) price as for a fair price to you as a consumer. I think that they REALLY high for "online shoppers" who have done their comparisons of a few "online dealers."

Hope that helps!

Oh yeah, one last thing that I had to add here after relooking at your original post:

Now you know someone who REALLY does sell at BELOW (UNDER) Dealer Invoice!!!

Here is my deal, picking up my Titan CC LE 4X2...

tomorrow...

It is an TITAN LE
Crew Cab
Navigation pkg
DVD pkg
Side Air Bag with VDC pkg
Sunroof
Big Tow pkg
Utili-track sliding Bed extender
Under Seat Storage Bin
Floor Mats

Color Galaxy Black

According to Edmunds:

Total With Options MSRP-$39350

Dealer Invoice $35337

TMV(What others are Paying) $36679 with a rebate of 1500 brings it to 35,179

What I paid:

Cash price with Options- $33,850

Doc Preparation Fee: $45
Sales Tax $2796.34

Optional 84mo/100,000mi Service Contract _ $1695

Commercial License: $361

California Tire Fee : $8.75

subtotal : $38756.09

- Nissan rebate: 2000.00

Total $36756.09 OTD

Originally I wanted a 4WD, and they had 2 with Off/road pkg+DVD, but no Navigation or Side Air Bags and no sunroof for the same price...

but when they showed me this baby I gave up the 4WD and took the other options and he made the same deal. SUV and big truck sales are really suffering in the Bay Area, and the dealers are willing to deal, he made me this price offer without negotiation, straight from his ad...

they wanted me into this truck bad...

I usually take 4-6 hrs to negotiate, we were done in 30 minutes...

I basically had the fully loaded LE 4X2 at 31850 which according to Edmunds is about 4000 less than dealer invoice or what others are paying... :D

I felt like throwing them a bone so I bought the 7yr/100K service contract...

they even got me the Nissan financing at zero down using the rebate as the down...

Since this is going to be my bus. vehicle anyway, I can fully depreciate it this yr for the writeoff...sweet...

Now that sounds like a very good deal, however your descriptions could use some work. Lots of info left untold.

Just kidding. Welcome to the board.

Thanks Vshortt

I might add, that the final deciding factor to me for buying the Titan is the Titantalk forum...

you guys give a lot of great information, but the general tone I got was that Nissan is at least attempting to fix things that go wrong...

Compared to the complaints I read on the Tundra and especially the state consumer product complaints, I mean, those Tundra folks with brake problems are really incensed...

Test drove the Tundra first...ok, but no pizzaz, just felt like any other vehicle...

Test drove the Honda Ridgeline, ok, but inside felt cheap, and almost no bed, worse thing was the center console, I've seen better plastic boxes at Kmart...

and then came the Titan,

first you read about it,

we sat in one on the lot, it felt rich and spacious...

but to the test drive the LE we finally bought, it felt like superpower and style all rolled up into one...

but I think the final deciding issue was seeing the post about the headon accident I read here with the pictures...

everyone around this area is crazy about small cars, especially the hybrid prius, thinking only about gas prices...this has depressed truck and SUV prices, but with the Titan, I don't have the fear of surviving a crash that I would have in a Prius, that's for sure...

yeah people usually buy the titan after a test drive....there isnt anything else like it

Sounds like a good deal to me, but I ain't no expert.

Is it really below invoice? Depends which invoice you use.
There is invoice... then there is INVOICE.. which comes to the dealer long after you drive off the lot. Most manufacturers have an invoice rebate that comes back to the dealer and in effect makes their true invoice lower than the initial invoice. I think it's called 'holdback'. It's usually good for $500 to $2000 in wiggle room for a dealer, IMOE.

I paid right at about invoice on my 05, but they made money on the holdback and the warrantee AND the financing, which is OK with me. They need to make money too or they wouldn't be in business. :D

You know, I originally was skeptical too about the discount...

It was printed in the newspaper, 2000 rebate plus 5500 off dealer discount for 3 specified LE trucks...

usually when you see that in a paper ad, they don't remember the ad when you go in, and then say oh that truck was sold...

but this time,

I emailed in the specs on the web, he called back, told me he had the 4by4 I wanted except no navigation with the discount, I went in, saw the 2 4X4s and then saw this 4X2 LE with everything on it, and then he told me he'll give it to me at the same deal since they all invoiced out the same, actually, all 3 were the ad listings...

I was hesitating before, but at this price with everything, I just jumped on it...

understand that with gas prices in our area here sometimes hitting $3.20 a gallon the last few weeks, has really frozen the big truck and SUV market, lucky for me, I don't commute, my home is about 1 mile from my business...

I'm sure they have a dealer holdback and other incentives...

but I still got a good deal...

anyway, what the sales manager told me was very enlightening...

basically, the whole auto row in Colma, where I bought it, was owned by the same corporation...

they own the Lexus dealership next door where my LS400 is from, the Infiniti dealer, the Jeep dealer, the Honda dealer, the Acura dealer, Nissan dealer, all of them except the Ford dealership...

followup on pickup today...

I picked up my Titan today and couldn't be happier...

anyway, they offered to wash it again before I left, so I walked around the lot while they washed it...

I counted 24 Titans on the lot including my own, which is why I think the dealer was discounting so much...

Sounds like you got what you wanted. Every deal is different. If your happy, that's all that counts.

Total with Options (after destination charge) is
MSRP: $28,920
Invoice: $26,029

Need to subtract the Incentives & Rebates -$2,000

So that puts you at about $24K for Invoice. One important question is if the dealer was counting the Rebate. Some dealers will give a good price, but then say they keep the rebates.

car dealerships are in busines to make money...thats why they are in business! and they'll make their money in the deal..., holdback, spliffs. more importantly, they make money in service...so they like it when you come back. and you will never know the 'true' cost the dealer paid. unless your the owner or comptroller. :)

btw, gcole- i'd say thats a great deal! ask the dealer for a few free oil changes!;)

jollysammy-- minus the 4wd, you got freakin' LOADED titan, nice!!!:D
