I jacked up the front of the truck for the first time. i put jack stands where the frame and cross member meet right under the rear view mirrors. (both sides) I went to remove the jack and the truck bowed over the jack stands(back end went down and the front went, but the stand didnt move) and the tires went to the ground. I didnt remove the jack all the way because this worried me. I have an 06 CC. I need to remove the jack in order to change the oil because the filter is right where the jack goes.

In this thread one of the last posts shows the jack points.(in a jpeg file or something) I used the front and center one to jack up, and the 2 closest to the rearview mirrors. http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tit...25461-how-do-you-jack-up-rear-your-truck.html

what?!!! put the jack stands under the frame of the truck not the cross member. Also you dont need to use a jack to change the oil

I haven't jacked up any titans for an oil change and ill bet my drain pan is much bigger than most. I did when I painted my wheels and I went up on the frame rail and put the stand next to it.

I do like to jack up my Titan when I change the oil. It gives me a bit more room to work under there. I usually take care of other stuff while it's jacked up.

its not needed, but i would love the extra room. I like to use my rolaround thing, which makes ma about 3" off the ground. i crawl around at work enough, i dont feel like doing it when i get home. thats why i want to lift the T up. I can do it without, i already have a few times, but i like to make my life easier when i can.

The circled spots in that pic were more centered over the cross member, so i put the stand right where the crossmember connects to the frame. It must have been a week spot. I will try the frame itself tomorrow.

I drive the front tires up onto a couple of short 2x8 scrap pieces. That's almost 3" of lift leaving more than enough room.

i did this with an old car i had, but the drain was realy close to the front of the truck. I thought about driving it up on wood, but i didnt feel like it. maybe i will do this for oil changes instead.

Sounds to me like maybe you should take it to somebody for oil changes? Your truck is supposed to be level when changing it. Maybe your jack stands aren't tall enough?

Level or nose-up. Pan drain is at the back of the pan to let oil drain when nose up.

How do you figure? The drain plug is at the back of the oil pan, so as long as the front is up its ok. Jack stands go over 20".
