Attached, you'll find an itinerary for the 2011 NC Meet to be held in Boone, NC on Friday, July 29th and Saturday, July 30th.
We'll post a sign up thread.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a Federal park. Blue Ridge Parkway - Home
Plenty of twists and turns and view points to take in the Blue Ridge Mountains about every mile. The Linville Viaduct is one of the best picture spots to view the parkway and get a picture of your Titan with a great backdrop. Bring your camera.
Grandfather Mountain, Mount Mitchell, Linville Falls have nominal park fees to get in but worth an hour visit unless you want to hike in which case, it’s recommended 2-4 hours. A trip to Mount Mitchell or Grandfather Mountain may require a jacket as those locations can be windy. Views and visibility change hourly!
Average temperature in Boone in July 76 degrees.
What to bring? A chair, hat, camera, whatever you want to swap at the Meet. All the food will be ready at the picnic site. A lot of people often ask to bring something which is great and always appreciated but the whole purpose is to come and have fun. We’ll have drinks, sides, desserts, and depending upon numbers either sub sandwiches or grill out.
This is first and foremost, a family-friendly event. Well-behaved pets welcomed of course in all areas where they are permitted. As you will see in a variety of stores and restaurants in and around the area, unruly kids will be given espresso and a puppy…(you can figure that one out.) Parents, guests, friends, and fellow Titan owners, please have fun and be safe while driving the parkway. Rangers and State Police will be out and around a variety of locations. The Parkway attracts drivers and sightseers which means that there are two different people out there; those that want to take the turns and put their vehicles through their paces, and those who want to drive 5 mph and stop every ten feet to look at the birds, bees, rocks, and trees along the mountainsides…
We picked Sleep Inn because it’s easy to get to and drive to the downtown area (basically turn left off HWY105 and go ½ mile!)
As we get closer and need numbers for reserving space at restaurants, some details may change.
What happens at the raffle? People will put out items up for give away and you will be given a set of tickets. You can buy additional tickets. There will be jars/cups for each item that you can then decide how many of your tickets will go to those items. We’ll have it all set up under a shade tent.
Anything else you want to bring like a sun shelter would be good. The picnic area is in the trees so we would be okay but in case people want something set up near their truck, there is no shade in the parking lot.
As we get closer, we’ll post up other details including contact information, last-minute logistics/maps, and some items to be raffled. See you there.
