I've been reading that it's best to move the upper o2 sensor down to the bung by the collector, so that you get readings from all cylinders and not just the one. I just can't find find an extension harness anywhere that would allow me to do this. I don't like cutting factory wires at all. I saw somewhere in the forum that someone was trying to make them, but that thread died back in 2012. From what I can tell, those extension harnesses do not exist, anyone ever find a vendor that makes them for a 2004? I know the plug changed around 2007.

The more research I do on this, the more conflicting information I read. Anyone have any helpful info on this?

My current setup on my new JBA LT install, my o2 sensor is in the top bung. I've got 155 miles on it so far with no CEL yet, I'm expecting it to light up soon though.

Very few people use the lower bung. I understand why it might be a better location, but extension wires are few and far between and the upper one does seem to work OK.

Don't do it. Yes in theory it is better to get the reading from the collector instead of the upper bung but to do that you have to extend the wires on the O2 sensors.. and that can cause all kinds of issues. I always recommend to install them in the upper bungs

Right. From what I understand the wire and contacts are made of specific materials, your basic copper wire is not compatible...not for sure, but thermocouples have specific requirements of materials, I'm sure o2 sensors aren't that much different

No need to do this. Your cylinders should all be running very close on a good healthy engine.

Extension connectors are not available anymore. 5123 Motorsports can't get them anymore either is what Ihave heard. Sensor wire is stainless and what we have available is cooper stranded wire. Solder may not hold up and loose connections will cause all kinds of issues. Some guys extend with no issues but a lot have all kinds of problems tuning.

I had the same issue I purchased a 02 sensor for the lower collector bank 2 driver side and it was short so I looked around the top of the transmission by the center dif. I disconnected the connectors to the top of the transmission that lead to the 02 sensor bank 2 driver side, removing a bit of wire loom. You do have plenty enough of wire that you do not have to cut to anything. After that I used a very sticky fabric wire tape that are used on high end cars then re loomed then went over top of the wire loom again. Zero 02 sensor issues at all.

This is a replacement female plug which takes the place of the original plug. if it extends harness eighteen inches to meet male plug from oxygen sensor, why wouldn't it work? It's a question I'm throwing out there! If the harness is copper wiring it should work? I know wires for from male plug to sensor isn't copper, but metal wiring and if it isn't seal good or have good contact, there will be bad communication and truck will run like ####!

looks like I'm going to Pull-a-Part and fine out!

Will let everybody know what I find!

With the 02 sensor I purchased my lead was a1 1 1/2 inches short. I did not cut a single 02 wire to get my issue resolved. My truck has been worked on in that area before I bought It. Only from sitting under a lift and thinking what am I going to do now... Because there are specific ties with specific placements. I didn't cut any 02 wires. 3 months working on my truck I am very thankful to have a lift.

I have decided to go ahead and order these Oxygen Sensor Connector from Rock Auto to extend the female down to meet the male after I move the sensor toward back hole on headers. The wires going to female is copper, which is the same as kit I got coming from Rock Auto, "copper".

I will be the guinea pig here and will let everybody know what I find. As for pictures I will have to find somebody better then photobucket!

When I had my JBA's installed by Nissan in June, the tech extended the O2 wires down to the collectors. Got a CEL a few days later. Codes P0420 and P0430

I'm not interested in whether or not it'll work, I'm interested in whether or not it has any effect on tuning.

I got the replacement female ends in yesterday.
There copper wires just like factory harness. Will try this weekend.
The sensors have stainless wires not copper that is the issue.

I had the first set of AFR extension harnesses from 5523 Motorsports. They were built using Tefzel wire and utilized factory connectors.

The problem was that they could only make them for the 2007 to 2012 or 2013 models. 04-06 and the 2012+ were SOL.

Not to mention, people didn't want to spend $150 for the pair of extension harnesses. People would scoff at cost and always wanting something for nothing. I don't think people realize that it takes time to source the parts, build the harness, run a shop or work at your second job etc.. not to mention shipping and answering question. There is always someone who says they can do it better for next to nothing.. my response to that is... then why are you even here.

Anyway, You can call 5523 Motorsports and speak to either Jen or Nick (owners of the shop) in Escondido california. If you really want to go this route you can.

I have had zero issues with my extension harness from them and I got 10" extensions. Been running them for over a year. Plug and Play, no codes, no problems.

Prior to having my custom headers, I ran DTLT with the AFR bung in cylinder 1 and cylinder 2 primary pipes for years without a problem either. Truck ran great with Uprev tuning.

Those above were mine and here they are installed on my truck. THey were already pre assembled when they arrived to me however.
