The JBA Evol is with out a doubt prolly the best performance cat back out there for the titan, but what do you think guys about the sound?

I've had this set up for about 2 months now, I'm impressed with the
performance,but not the sound.
It gives off a raspy, popping, ticking sound under WOT. I know this sound is associated with the the Titan engine, but come on now.

JBA hit it right off the bat with 2.25'' Y piping into 3'' collector back, but a louvered core K&N stamped muffler instead of perforated core muffler???
Louvered mufflers have more back pressure and way more turbulence than straight through perforated core designs.
Not bashing JBA, love there piping, just not a fan of there cheapo Cherry Bomb sounding mufflers.
What do you guys think?

Thanks.:teeth:

I totally agree. I describe it almost as of out of tune tractor cackle under WOT.

Mine's real slappy at WOT too. I hate it, but I'm too cheap to buy another muffler LOL.

There's absolutely no rasp or pop with the 18" Magnaflow muffler. For $65 delivered you guys might consider that option. Any raspiness or popping would drive me insane.

It's only when under full throttle and only seems to happen in 1st gear for me. Not a huge deal since I hear it 1% of the time, but sometimes it sounds like I have a blown out glasspack. Otherwise the exhaust sounds fantastic.

BTW my buddy has the Banks and his does the same thing to a lesser extent.

Yep, I've been considering magnaflow as a replacement, but the titan "drive off " sound clip on there website has scared me way again,I just cant stand that "ticking" in the upper end.
After listening to many clips and hearing some in person,I just think the exhaust exiting the Endurance engine sounds like crap, through any performance muffler in the upper rpm's, JMO.
This engine isn't tuned for topend power,so it runs out of breath, and you hear it in the exhaust.

Btw sudden, I read alot of your posts on all the testing of different components you have done, and data etc. and the info you share with us, It's very appreciated.
thanks.

both of my magnaflow 18" did the same thing but worse than my jba. its just the nature of a straight through muffler, similar to a glasspack design. you here it @ wot when it bounces off a wall or another car. you can change it a bit with the direction and angle the tip points

I have mine installed for 500 miles now and im really starting to get anoyed with the sound too. Love the sound at iddle and cruising but @ WOT it sounds like crap.

Still dont know what to do.
Really like the performance gains though.

Maby try angleing the tip more horizontal. that way it doesnt rasp off the ground so much.

Oh man I welded mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never had mine welded, like many suggest. I dont know how long it's going to be on there(just the muffler)so i did'nt want to go that route.Since I have "pop eye" forearms:upsidedow , I did'nt have any trouble clamping down with the supplied hardware. I just drove around with a 9/16 socket & ratchet in my center console for about 2 weeks and crawled under her every couple a days:) Prolly gonna be a biatch to get off though.

Yeah JBA told me to try experimenting with the muffler both directions. He claimed one way gives more HP, and backward gives more TQ and louder sound. After only 2 weeks i tried to switch and couldnt get one side off lol

I think it's your truck, mine sounds like nothing you have described.
