When I bought my Titan it was only 9 months old, used as a rental. Anyway, from day 1, the remotes would not work. The Ford dealer that sold me the truck tried to reprogram it, but couldn't. I changed the batteries in my remotes, that didn't help. I went online and printed out the instructions for reprogramming, and it wouldn't go into program mode. I've tried multiple times, but the lights don't flash, the horn doesn't honk, whatever. Does anyone know how to fix this? I would take it to the dealer, but they want to keep the truck for a day or more, and I have to drive it to work. I know it's a minor issue, and life will go on, but once in a while it would be nice not having to stick the key in the door every time I go to drive it.
1st post - sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. I just got an 04 and the single remote they gave me was in crap condition, so I bought a new one. When I went looking for programming instructions, I found a few variations. The one that worked for me was to:
Get in the truck with the doors closed.
Lock the doors with the power lock switch.
Insert and remove the key into ignition repeatedly (6 times). Hazards should flash.
Re-insert key and switch to Acc (do not crank)
Press the Lock button on the first remote. Hazards should flash.
(optionally, repeat these steps for multiples...)
Use power lock switch to unlock and then lock all doors.
Press the Lock button on additional remote. Hazards should flash.
(when finished adding remotes...)
Turn the key off, unlock the door, get out and test.
Again, i'm sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but this was the set of instructions that worked for me (and two others failed).
For what it's worth, I got the remote from MyKeyless on ebay, and have had no trouble w/the buying process or the quality of the remote itself.
