Was at the SCORE races this weekend and i heard the anouncer say that KMC got bought out by American Racing. They also said the American Racing got a hold of some other Co. Anyone heard anything on this?

Yep, American Racing bought KMC, It will be interesting to see how and what they do with the line.

Yeah, I heard about it a little while ago. I take amusement with this because my contact at KMC hates American Racing.

I can ask, but I doubt that'll happen. They recently added bronze as a finish option.

Ask your contact if he can do a "custom" set so I can take it to shows and gauge interest for them... Hint hint!

He could ask, but the closest to "custom" you will get is if the wheel has to be drilled in the bolt pattern needed. The decision to make a set like what your asking for has to come from his higher ups.

Why not just take a set of 6 on 5.5 rockstars off the shelf and get them coated, couldn't be that hard. I would do it if I knew of anyone that could do teflon coating.

I hope they don't ditch the KMC line now... American Racing is so generic in their styles. KMC had a lil edginess to them.

Alright. Just talked to my dude. He says that right now they are going to keep the lines seperate from KMC and American Racing. They will not be doing any of the XD's in teflon, and he said he doubts that'll ever happen. I asked if it would be possible to do a one off, I got a flat no.

ouch. That's harsh. I wonder with the buy out if they are keeping their designer or will keep using the same one.

From what I can tell, they are going to keep operating as seperate companies. It was actually the company that owns American Racing bought Wheel Pros, which is the biggest supplier of KMC wheels.
