KMC rockstars centercap on 18" question

Just had them put on today and can I say OMG!
AWESOME!
My question is for those of you with the 18" version. I'm not crazy about the way the centercap sticks out so I've decided to trim the posts down. For those of you that have done the same how much did you trim on the posts?
Also on the allen bolts did you buy new ones or just trim down the ones that came with the wheels?
If you did buy new ones could I get the specs from you as well as where you might have picked them up. I went to the hardware store and no luck.

i don't have any info for ya, other than i saw pics somewhere of someone that had done it.

lets see some pics of the new setup tho!
GGGRRRR. I would but I just went back out there this evening and the passenger front tire is flat. I have a feeling its the TPS. There were having problems when they initially mounted it. They thought they had it figured out but now I have to wait till monday since Americas tire is closed on sundays.

You can still toss the wheel though their front window on a Sunday ... at least they show that on their TV commercials around here. :upsidedow
dont give me any ideas

Update: Went back out this morning with a clear head. Put some air back in and used a spray bottle with soap. Bubbles galor.
Used a 12mm deep socket to try to snug down the TPS. Damn it was loose as hell. Tighten a little, spray a little. Finally no more bubbles. Decided to check the other 3 and they were loose too, just not as bad. Snugged em all down and repsrayed with soapy water to check.
Everythings aired back up to 36psi. I'll recheck tommorrow morning and keep my fingers crossed.
Do you have any kind of lift? What specs on the wheels did you go with? What size and brand tire?
I'd like to see this centercap mod.... not sure it'll be an issue with my 22's though. Getting them on Friday...can't wait.
I have the 2" front leveling kit on a 4wd. I'm not sure if the 4wd sits higher then the 2wd.
The tires are Nitto Terra Grappler 325/60/18
They do rub a bit but only in reverse. I will need to do the pinch weld mod. I'm just looking for a cheap heat gun.
I'll have to get back to you on the wheel specs as they ordered these directly from KMC. No one had the Size for the Titan so they had KMC drill out a set for me.
What I can tell you is they are 18x9. They do stick out about an inch though.

You shouldnt have a problem with your 22's It only affects the 18s. I just ordered some shorter allen bolts today. I went everywhere but no hardware store carries metric allen bolts, go figure.

FYI: When you get yours check the little "XD" emblem stickers on one of the arms. I lost 3 out 4 in a car wash. I said the hell with it and just tore the last one off.
Thanks for the heads up...I'll be sure to check it out.
wouldnt kmc wheels have standard allens not metric?

You'd think that, but I guess they decided to make things interesting. Because of that I had to special order the bolts and turned out to $40 for stainless steel.

FYI: wheels are 18x9 6lug 5.5 backspacing.
Also they'll need to use different o-rings. The Rockstars valve hole is drilled out too big to use the tps without new rings. Te guys at america tire pilfered from a different kit they had on hand. 2flat tires later I hope they have it down. oh well, **** happens.
New pics
two of the close ups shot reference images.
The center cap has posts that I cut off 1.25" using new socket bolts that were sized m8x50. I painted them primer black
the rear shot shows how much they stick out.

dragonhead...gonna need better pics than that...your killin me here!!!

from what i can tell your truck looks badass!!!!
Thanks for the compliment
Sorry about the crappy pics, I'm totally going to get to it today. I'm going to to the centercap mod today and then I'll get new pics. I finally got my wifes camera.
pics updated!
nice job i always loved those rims but did not like how the hub cap was extended like that, but it now looks great
Very nice! awesome set up! Id love to get me a set of them or the Hoss's here in the near future.
what you can also do is remove the center cap and there are 5 phillips screws. remove them and get 1/2in longer screws. make sure they are the same type and only longer and while you are at the hardware store, get some clear tubing that the screw will fit snug into. cut the tubing approx 1/2in and space out or should i say in, the center star. the star will be more recessed in and the centercap will look more flush. oh yeah and dont tighten the screws too tight!

Is this something I should tell the guys before they put on the wheels? Or is this not common of what happened to you.
If they're familiar with tire pressure sensors they should already know, but it probably wouldnt hurt just to give em a heads up that the factory seals are too small. After the 3rd try mine finally stopped losing air. One thing to keep in mind is they really need to tighten them down enough otherwise they will ose air rreaaaalllyy slow. It will seem ok for the first day but the next day you'll see about a 1-2psi drop.
