so when are you buying another Titan?
Not to get too off subject BUT when I was test driving vehicles before buying my Titan I was blindsided at the GMC dealership when they asked me for my SSN just to freak'n test drive. When asked why they told me that "it's policy so they don't waste time on someone that can't afford it."Pokoki said:Des Monies’ local GMC truck headquarters has a black demo version of the new Sierra Denali all wheel drive 4 door pickup.
I stopped by for a test drive. After registering, yes I had to register to even test drive the truck, I got to take it on a short drive and their established course. The course did include a nice on ramp on to the freeway.
I have driven the new Vortec Max Chev as well as the Tundra 5.7, but this Sierra was unbelievable. The 6 speed tranny is AWESOME, and the power under the hood is amazing. I don't have any 0-60 mph or 1/4 mile times, but this truck is going to give the Tundra a run for its money (for being fast at least). I think the spec sheet said towing for the all wheel drive version was 8200 ft give or take a couple hundred pounds.
This was a fully loaded truck, and the sticker was upwards of $50K, but it was still fun to drive.
The breaks were a little soft for my liking, and the steering was descent (actually kind of numb). But inside it road like a Caddy.
I know the dealers do this when there are promotions (like the Dale movie), to deter any non-prospective customers. You'll get everyone and their cousin coming in from BFE trying to test drive just for fun or to get a freebie. It wastes the real customers time and the salesman's too. I think if you are serious about a buy they know and wont hassle you as much.anmut said:Not to get too off subject BUT when I was test driving vehicles before buying my Titan I was blindsided at the GMC dealership when they asked me for my SSN just to freak'n test drive. I promptly told them to get bent and went to the dealership across the street and drove a Titan. I ended up writing a letter to their GM but he must be just as big as a de*sch bag because we never heard back. I many send one to th owner if I can find his address.
Not soon enough unfortunately. Although the $5000 rebates on the 08's are nice!ecmeyla said:so when are you buying another Titan?
Yeah i can see that point - but if you're going to run some lame promotion and give everybody a toaster for a testdrive then of COURSE people will abuse it. Dealerships would be better off just giving people the best prices on vehicles they can. That sort of advertising will always work better than fake lotto tickets or what not.roy365 said:I know the dealers do this when there are promotions (like the Dale movie), to deter any non-prospective customers. I bet you can get lower than that........everyone around here uses that lame a** "employee discount". Usually knocks a good chunk off list."misslelau2007 TITAN LE said:Right now you can easily get an 08 LE with no nav for $32k. How much are they willing to deal on the Denali? My guess is that you will be lucky to get it down to $45k.
I cant see paying 50k for a truck. I drive my dads 07 chevy silverado, its a big differance between the Titan and his truck.Pokoki said:Not soon enough unfortunately. Although the $5000 rebates on the 08's are nice!
As you can tell the members on here dont really care to hear about the competition. They seem to turn a deaf ear to the subject. At least you have kept your options open, after all it's the 2nd biggest investment most of us make. My friend has the loaded out Chevy model and he didnt pay near 50K for his. I wanna say 25-30K range. I dunno about the GMC that Pokoki is speaking of. I have had my amount of issues out of my truck, and i am sure the GMC and Chebbies have theirs too. I will say this......if i hadnt spent the money to get my truck to perform at the level it is now it would be traded already!!!!!Pokoki said:Des Monies’ local GMC truck headquarters has a black demo version of the new Sierra Denali all wheel drive 4 door pickup.

call me paranoid but that's exactly what i'd assume they were doing with the information. although, with "baller status" being a thing these days i can't really blame the dealership for wanting some reassurance.HudsonValleyTitan said:As for dealers asking for you info, it's not allowed in some states. They've been known to do credit checks on you while you're test driving. Something not allowed without your knowledge.
Making sure testers have a drivers license is one thing, asking for your SSN is out. Joyriders are just a part of the business. Who's to say who's a joyrider and who's a potential buyer. After you test drive, if you don't buy?....you're a joyrider to them. Tough crap...that's the nature of the business.redpickemuptruck said:Do not give your SSN to any dealer, they have no right to ask you for that prior to a test drive. Auto dealers are a hotbed for identity theft. When I was in the car biz I sold a lot more expensive vehicles than a Denali. Ask someone buyng a $100k plus car if they gave their SSN before a test drive. If the dealership is really having issues with joyrides they need to train their staff to qualify their customers or take a deposit on a credit card. Identity theft in dealerships is so bad I wouldn't use their finance department I would go though my own bank.
