Leaking Doug Thorley Headers. What to do?

I bought a set of stainless ceramic coated DT headers in April. I installed them and I thought everythig was ok. In May I bought the uprev and did the logs so i could get my first map tuned. It turned out It looked looked like I had a leak on the left bank, So I took it back apart figuring I had messed something up when I installed it. Once I had it apart I could see the leaks and it was pretty clear why.

So I called Nick at DT and told him what was going on and he said he wanted to get the header back so they could "fix" it. The problem with this is I live in Florida and its going to take 5 days for it to get to him, then they are going to have to fix it, then its 5 days back and I cant be without my truck for two to three weeks. So we agreed that they would get me a new one but they didnt have anymore so it would be about 5 weeks but he wanted me to call back after 2 weeks and see how things were going. I called again after 2 and a half weeks to check on things and Nick tiold me they were in welding and I should call again in a week and a half. So today I called and he tells me that he was wrong the that the headers being made now are the mild steel not the stainless and he still thinks I should send the one I have to him to have it fixed. I got really pissed because I paid alot for the headers and I just want them not to leak. I cant even get my e-tunes done because of the leak. Another problem is that it sounds like ****.
In his defense its only been 4 weeks so its not like its gone on longer then we agreed but today he didn't even give me a time frame for when I would get them.

I am asking you guys what you think I should do and am I wrong for being upset?

Damn!!! I was about to order a pair of DT's...... Guess Ill wait or buy some Stillens! What to do what to do!!!!

Update

I picked up the new QX gasket yesterday. I could tell that the holes for the studs were different and I would have to do some modifying to get it to go on. So I pulled the header off and checked it anyway and it almost went on. They went on the tip of the stud but wouldnt clear the threads, so What I am doing is taking a Dremel and elongateing the holes for the studs. The studs on my truck are set closer to one another then the new QX thats why the holes on my headers are elongated. Here are the pics.

This is ridiculous. Round ports in gasket and header flange that don't match oval ports on head in addition to misaligned bolt holes. I want a refund and it isn't even my truck!

yea man, why try to make this work? you need a refund or headers made for a titan.

call and speak to a MANAGER not Nick... Those guys have always been awesome to me and anyone i have sent to them so its not the whole place its someone dragging their feet and not wanting to help out.

Demand a full refund or a set of TITAN headers, not 2012 QX headers.. thats f'in ridiculous that youre getting the run around on this.

I agree! That's just plain cheap!!! DT couldn't make a separate, specifically designed set of header for the QX? Instead they take the cheapo route & try to modify the Titan specific header to try & save themselves money for real R&D. Round runners & flanges with no transition are supposed to mate up with the Titans oval exhaust port's? WTF DT???

Those cheap basturds doing the one fit all chit. I would want true Titan headers or a refund ASAP. Those headers will not flow properly at the ports.

Update

I got the gasket on but It did not work. The circle port is too large. If you look at bestatchess's picture the top of the oval it has just enough surface area for the oval ring on the gasket to sit on. The round QX port goes past that surface so it cannot seal. I am going to have to wait 4-5 weeks for the new ones. 04GreenT who do you normally talk to at DT?

Those headers will work on with those gaskets, when the sun rises in the west and sets on the east, ain't never gonna happen, my question is, why is nick still working there at DT, get your money back our get a new set of headers that are designed for the titan, not a QX56. This is something that I would expect from an inferior company not DT. In the long run you truck will run like crap cause of the f upped flow.
Notice how that little weasel nick has not been back on, probably hiding like a little punk.

I know a great fix. Just get yourself a set of QX56 heads and intake manifold. Fabricate anything that needs to be fabricated and then go get tuned. The flow is still not meant for the QX56 but who cares. lol. JK. Get your money back or make them give you the TRUE Titan headers.

I spoke to a guy named Frank. Im not 100% sure on his last name but i know it started with a "V" lol

Thanks Green I hopefully wont need it.

Well..... what happend was they built me a new set because thats what I wanted. It took 5 weeks but I was Ok with that. The problem is they made it with the QX mods. Now they are going to make me a new oval set but it is going to be another 4-5 weeks. Tomorrow it will have been 2 weeks since I was told that so hopefully I only have 2-3 weeks left.
DT did not tell me to try the gasket thing BBtruck gave me the idea and I figured if I could get it to work I could save myself from all this.

WTF? Nick knows damn well you have a Titan and they still made you a QX set? Someone needs to get their head out of their *** over there...

Maybe i should go make a visit lol (their shop is literally 2 miles from my house)

The new DT design is made to fit both the 2011-2012 QX and Titan. So that is what they made me to replace my set. I started this thread a week before my replacement set was going to be finnished. After they looked at what was being said on TT Nick gave me the option to take the new style or wait agian for the old style. I opted to wait for the old style(oval port, round holes for the studs). Hopefully I only have 2 or 3 weeks left :teeth:.

That would be awsome you could make sure my headers look right before they ship them to me.

Sorry for that costly idea.. I just don't see why would DT think that the QX and titan headers would be interchangeable..

:bangit: Freakin' experts. 2 to 3 weeks of waiting left, they sould give you a discount. Nice to have patience with those "experts" at DT.
