Leaking front axle, and it's pulled out of the diff?

2284 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  SKEET
I just removed my mini lift kit and replaced it with Radflo 2.0's. The install when perfect, but I now have a 1 drop every 5-7 seconds from the front axle where the flange is. It appears that the flange pulled out from the differential about 1 inch, and is dripping from that point. Can I just push/knock the flange back over to the differential? Will driving the truck with the leak cause any further damage as long as I don't use 4 wheel drive?

I need advice?

Thanks!

The halfshaft has pulled out of the diff. This has happened before. There is a retaining ring inside the diff that is supposed to hold it all in place. You should take it to the dealer and see if they'll fix it for you.

mine did the same thing......... i caused it while installing my leveling kit. what hapened was..... i couldn't get my shock back in. i needed the bottom control arm to drop down just a little more. well being the genius i am i jumped on it trying to get it to drop a little. well i got the shock in lol but pulled out the axle....... i took the level kit off after a week b/c i realizedi was leaking oil and it was also pulled out about an inch. i took it to the dealer and said " i dunno what happened i just noticed i pulled out a bit and was leaking oil." they finally fixed it under warrant. they told me " well warranty is going to cover it. our techs said it looked like an impact damage but we couldn't find the impact. so we just gave up and fixed it." lucky me!!! the spindlewas also warn. so they replaced that whole axle shaft. i would definately take it to thedealer.

I've had my leveling for a year but now has pulled out some and is leaking.Do I need to take the leveling kit back off before I take it to the dealer? Thanks.
You should be able to just push the axle back into the diff. It came out because the spindle pulled too far away from the truck when the upper ball joint was seperated form the spindle-upright. Just push the axle back into the diff, it should "snap" back in place. If its an 04-05 there may be an issue of the snap ring failing, but im assuming that it came out during the install and not because the snap ring failed. And yes, with just a small blade screwdriver, you can pop the stub axles right out of the diff.

I don't know it might of just came out.I haven't had any work done on it in four months but it could have happened then and just now started to leak. Two weaks ago it wasn't leaking because I checked it.Will the dealer use a different snap ring since I have a 05?I hope theres something they can do to keep it from happening again.
