My 2005 Nissan Titan has 281000 miles on it and just a month ago began having the dreaded rear axle leak, mechanic replaced the seal, and has been leeaking negligible amounts since on the passenger side. recently have been noticing a horrible rubber burning smell when getting out the truck after driving it, leak is no worse than normal, gear oil is hardly depleted, but now driver side rim brake and rotor runs so hot it blisters my hand to the touch, and is causing said smell, any idea on what is causing this? and how dangerous is it to drive?

Did you happen to hear a loud bang at some point? Symptom of parking brake delaminating.

Welcome and it needs to be said, this is an extremely dangerous condition to operate your Titan in. Get it looked at ASAP and don't drive it any distance until it's repaired. At almost 300K, problems like this are bound to pop up, but this one cannot be ignored!

If the parking brake is ok on inspection, replace both rear calipers at the same time or pull them and rebuild with new pins, glides, seals, pistons, etc.... if you're handy that way. Rebuild is 15 min. of your time off the axle plus about 35.00 parts each. New are over 100.00 each unloaded and there's a core charge. Good luck.
