Looking at a 07 Titan LE CC

1023 Views 15 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Miked1
I've had this truck out for a 2 day test drive now and really like it so far. Compared to my 96 4Runner and 83 Mercedes 300D there isn't much to compare. I was wondering if someone out there could tell me what I'm looking at and if there should be any red flags raised.

The Trucks Vin is 1N6BA07A17N234095, they are asking 24,349.00 and it has 8,100 miles....8,250 now. Leather, power seats, and numerous bells and whistles.

I'm just not sure if it has the tow package, limited slip, gear ratio.... things I'm looking for to tow my boat. It does have the receiver hitch but don't know about the tow package.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,
I have a 07 SE CC for the same reason. I tow a 24 ft cuddy cruiser. I am pretty sure I am correct when I say if it doesnt have a hitch then it doesnt have the tow package. Other things to look for in the tow package on a 07 are big extendable mirrors, a tow mode button on the lower portion of center consol and a transmission temp gauage on the right-middle side of the gauage cluster.

If you will be towing for sure I would move on to find one with a factory big tow package. Some will probably disagree with me but its my personal preference to get as many options I can from the factory that way its covered under warranty and you dont have to worry about any hacks adding equipment to your truck.

When I say move on I mean to another Titan. I have towed my boat (approx 7000 lbs + liquids and gear) enough to know that youll love the way the Titan pulls. All the factory equipment means that all you have to do is buy a hitch and ball and you are ready to go, after you properly break it in! You will love the rear quater panel storage area for all your towing accessorys.

Just my 2 cents. Any other questions just ask.

Sorry I just reread your post and you said it does have a reciever, so it may have the tow package. Look for the other things I mentioned
The factory tow package would include the following: Receiver hitch, Two mirrors (Big mirrors with one regular and one convex), Transmission Temp guage, and higher gear rear end. Also, under the radio, you will see a button labeled Tow Mode. You should also have the plug for the Brake controller under the dash by the emergency brake. I rocommed the Prodigy barke controller. The Titan is an awsome truck, I am on my second Titan now. I traded my 04 for an 08.

According to that VIN, it's a 2WD with side AB package. You also have the rear wheel ABLS (Active Brake Limited Slip). It doesn't tell you if it has the tow package or not but if you have the hitch, big mirrors and temp guage, then you have the tow package and its' lower gearing as well.
The 2007 pretty much has any new model problems ironed out. Good luck!
My 04 has the tow mode button and a receiver hitch, but does not have the 'Big' tow package (gears, tranny temp and big-a$$ mirrors) - so what I'm saying is hitch and button mean nada.
What I can't understand is why ANY manufacturer would put a factory hitch on a truck without the accompanying towing package.... True that this is a very capable truck, but there are too many idiots out there who would take it and tow something much larger and heavier than it can handle without the other tow package items. I'm not calling you guys who tow, idiots, so don't read it like that. I'm just saying that people can tend to overload it thinking it is invincible because it came with a tow hitch. Why would Nissan not protect the tranny, rear, etc...? :dunno: I just don't see their logic in this.....
People will overload an F350 dualie.

Honestly, the gears make sense from a dead stop, and a temp guage would be nice on long climbs, and of course the mirrors awesome, but really - it's the same frame, engine, tranny, and brakes...

(I know the listed capacity is different - I never expected to pull more than 5000 lbs - and haven't - that's why I didn't go with the big tow. I negotiated the hitch because I consider a truck without one to be, well, less of a truck.)
I thought the tranny came with an extra cooler with the big tow package? Mine has one......

Not sure - mine has a tranny cooler too, but maybe he big tow cooler is bigger??
All Titans come with the same tranny cooler. The tranny temp guage is what's not on Titans w/o the tow package.

Then the truck was either used and the last owner added it or the hitch was dealer installed. Nissan doesn't build a Titan that has the hitch but no tow package. If you have the OR package, then you also have the lower gearing and can tow more than the non tow equipped rating.

Nissan doesn't. No tow package, no factory hitch. I don't know if other manufacturers do though.

<snip>.
yeah - that one... I've been the only owner. The dealer installed the 'factory' nissan hitch as part of the deal (fog lights too). I actually found this site because I was googling the trailer light relay switch part numbers that came with the hitch (the dealer conveniently left them in the center console along with the wireharness/plug converter thingy.)
It also comes with a heavy duty battery...

The easiest way to tell though is what was stated above, the tranny temperature gauge under the speedometer.
Oh and every Titan comes with the TOW MODE button too.
Price seems a bit high, I bought mine (new) for $25,800 + tax, tag & BS dealer fee.
