So I was planning on getting my first vehicle this summer, a Titan, and it seems like the grand majority of the Titans here in Texas are only 49 state compliant.

Well, I was flirting with a pretty nice 2010 Titan King Cab XE at the used dealer, and when I told my bank about the emissions sticker, they denied me the loan, telling me that it would be difficult to register in CA.

So, my questions is, what should I do about trying to get a Titan in Texas? Anyone from CA have any advice for me? I have heard that as long as it passes the inspection and sniffer test I should be fine (but my bank still won't help me with financing lol). Is this true?

in CA you need to pass Visual inspection and sniffer (depending on the county you are going to live in / register it in)

Basically, CARB legal setup is OEM Headers, JBA Shorty Headers or Magnaflow Headers with OEM Cats or Valina cats. Thats it. Only way around that is to have "a smog guy"

Here is all the research, EOD numbers and documentation from a bunch of CA members - http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tit...-california-complete-system-requirements.html

Unfortunately even if they sniff sniff and it passes some banks will not grant you the loan and thats just the way they work. I was looking at a 14 Titan back when I purchased mine and same thing happened to me. Truck was originally from Texas out in Colorado and they would not even bring it to California for me.
