I would first like to say hello to everyone!! I have been a dormant member for along time, Actually fell of the record for awhile...:upsidedow I registered as a member when I purchased my truck in 05' and got a ton of helpful info from this forum with upgrades and brake problems!! Deployed with the ARMY and other changes down the road forgot about this place, won't happen again. I hope to meet some people and become a strong member. I currently own a 05' Titan SE CC 2WD and am looking to trade it in around NOV. (when home from IRAQ) for a 08' Titan CC short bed, Pro 4X. I wanted to know if it was worth paying the money for it if I was going to lift it and new tires and other upgrades, than to just purchase a regular 4X4 SE and do the upgrades. I know the PRO has other nice features that the SE doesn't. I guess my question is would it be a waste on the OEM parts on the PRO 4X if I jack it up, than go with a cheaper SE. Also, with the introduction to the long bed. My other question is does the long bed make the truck look un-proportionate to you? I like the look of the original short bed but, will probably need to see it in person to get the feel for it. Well, hope to get to know some people and as the time gets closer I will post the progress of my purchase of the the new truck, and the price I haggle out of the many dealerships close to my house!!:futwice:

Sounds like you will be trashing the front and rear shocks when you do the lift. So, the big difference between the SE and the Pro-4X will be the e-locker in the rear that the Pro-4X has. Though, I have never needed 4low even in some big snow storms, so the locker would have never been used. If you are going to switch out with the truetrac, I would get the SE.

I just traded my '05 SE 4x4 on an '08 SE 4x4 long bed. The long bed makes the truck seem lower though my measurements show the height is only about an inch or so less (might be the full 37 gallon gas tank weighing it down). The ground clearance seems to be about the same at the rear differential. The ride is much better in the '08 than in my '05. Don't know if that is the long bed or just the '08.

I would think if you are going to do a lot of off-roading that the short wheelbase of the short bed would be better for you. I would just drive both and go with your gut. Good luck.
