I`m a die hard ford fan and will always be my truck of choice, But I want a titan. They are just cool looking. I love the new 04 f-150 but its just a styelin truck. The Titan is a whole differnt look, kinda "In your face punk" looking. I like it cause its just differnt than anything out there.

I`m looking into buying a new truck. I have a 1997 F-150 XLT SC V8 and a 1995 XL RC I6(BEATER).

My options so far are
Newer F-250 PSD.
NEW 04 F-150.
NEW 04 Titan.

I know alot about the fords. I know nothing about the titan.

I`m just wondering....how ya like them?
How much you paid for yours?
How much your insurance is? (If its really high, let me know why...moving violations etc.)

If I were to get a titan my family would disown me. (not really but I get crap)

I want a Black ExCab with the cheapest package that has 18 inch wheels. Its got to be 4x4.

If I can swing it I will be trading in the 95 F-150.

So lets here it? Try to get me to buy a titan.

SE model

An extended cab, 4x4 SE model has a sticker of $28,150 and an invoice of around $25,500. It is a "base" SE, but it is still a great truck. You would get 18'' wheels, ABLS (computer limited slips front and rear), ABS, 5.6L V8, 5-speed automatic, power windows/locks/mirrors, bucket seats (or save $180 and get a bench), cruise control yada yada yada. There is also a $1000 rebate now

Try optioning up an extended cab 4x4 F150 XLT with the 5.4 triton, 18'' wheels, and similar features and it will be a few thousand more. Even with the Ford rebate right now (1500 I think?) you won't come close to the $25,500 you could do for a Titan at invoice.

Not to mention the far superior engine/tranny in the Titan. (the Ford has similar power numbers, but it is moving around 500-700 lbs more, and has a 4speed instead of a 5speed auto). The gas mileage will probably be equivalent to the Ford, but power is a whole different story.

I think the Ford has a nice looking exterior, and a nice interior. But are you looking for a car, or a TRUCK? :) The titan has the attitude and the drivetrain that a truck should have. Take a couple of your family/friends for a test drive and see the surprised looks on their faces when you toast the tires on a Titan test drive :gunz:

Sounds good. I`m with you on the tranny, there is no reason ford couldn`t but the torque shift 5sp (or eqivalant) in an F-150. Also with you on the price, that is a good deal. Cant touch a 4x4 F-150 for that. (w/f150 I would go supercrew).

I`d like to hear from as many as possible.

I`v heard some soundclips of exhaust and seen a truck just like what I want to have and I`m just getting more and more fond of these trucks.

Insurance wise there are a lot variables, it would difficult to tell you. I suggest calling your insurance company and getting a quote. For me, my LE CC was only $10 more a month than my '99 blazer. So I'd say it's got good rates, considering it's brand new.

Ford guy, I was kinda like you in a way as I was a loyal "gag" dodge man. I finally went the foreign route and bought a Toyota. There has been no looking back, I would probably have bought another Toyota but I wanted a truly full size truck this time. So I got the TITAN.
I am very impressed with this truck. As you can tell by looking at some of the posts on this forum, there have been some issues. I count myself as being one of the lucky ones as I have had no serious problems, only the radio issue with poor radio reception. And to tell the truth it really isn't that bad, just my opinion.
As far as insurance goes my insurance did go up a little bit over the Toyota, one reason being it was a more expensive truck.
All I can say is for you to do your research, and get the best truck out there,
and to heck with brand loyalty.

Well I can not call myself a Titan owner yet, but I do have some 210,000 miles of experience divide up between an '86.5 SE-V6 4x4 KC and a '95 XE-V6 4x4 KC. Although the Titan is a new product for Nissan, clearly Nissan has some truck experience. I can not compare my Hardbodies to the Titan for it is light-years ahead, but I can say this - I have been driving these trucks for the past 10 years and I have virtually no complaints and this is why I will be buying an '05 Red Brawn Titan.

Y Titan

Some non intelligent reason why I bought the truck
Big arse engine 5.6 V8, horsepower 305, torque 379, space( real roomy). And 18inch wheels(very pretty).

Big headlights....

Car and Driver ran 0-60 in 6.9 secs, puts my old mustang to shame

You can put a really big magnetic American Flag on the Tailgate

Oh did I mention the 2000 RPM Growl, or drone for the the people who do not like that kind of thing.

Besides Its assembled by Americans....

FordGuy,

My dad has a King Ranch F150 ('01), which is a damn nice truck. We at TitanTalk might bash those Fords a bit (they are kinda slow and heavy), but they're solid trucks.

Having said that, I think you've hit on why we went Titan. There's an attitude with a Titan, with performance to match. There's a lot of neat features in a Titan that you don't find in a Ford/Chevy/Dodge, not the least of which is the Utilitrack. For the person who frequently uses their 1/2 ton to haul stuff, it can't be beat for...well...utility.

Aside from the power, the new Fords drive really nicely, but I think you'll find yourself more "connected" with the road in a Titan. Plus, you won't be able to wipe that silly grin off your face for months - you'll become a Titanaholic. Also, the domestic buyers seem to give it credibility once they go for a ride.

I'd say the only negative part of Titan ownership is its newness. So far, buying aftermarket stuff is difficult, as there isn't much out there yet (relative to makes like Ford).

There are only a few known problems at this point with the Titan, so we're all just hoping that Nissan did its quality control homework. As a company, Nissan seems to be a bit hit or miss with quality. Most of its vehicles are built well, but if you check the consumer reports-type publications, you'll find a few Nissan models that don't measure up. On the flip side of that, if check out the "problems" section of this board, you'll find that the problems we're having are relatively few, and relatively minor. If the worst things that happen to us are squeaks/rattles, occasional electrical blips, and some warped rotors, I'd call the Titan a success. Only time will tell.

More good stuff, thats great!

As for aftermarket stuff, that will come with time. Besides all the things I want they already make.

Yes I'm a ford loyalist, and will stick to my word. I know owning one of these wouldn`t convert me. I`m just looking for a two to three year affair with another brand. LOL I want the most exciting one.

Lets hear more about this truck.

I have been a very loyal GM buyer for myself and my company for over 25 years. I think the GM were great and I have never had a problem that amounted to much or wasn't fixed in a very good fashion. I bought the Titan because it is just a lot more truck. I use my truck to tow trailers a lot and the Titan seems to be a lot better than any 1/2 ton out there for towing.

The power is great. I really like to drive this truck! I am involved with a lot of customers that own the Big three and work their trucks a lot. No one has ridden in my truck or driven my truck that wasn't amazed with it. This is a really fun truck to drive!

I have had virtually no problems with this truck and I use it very hard, just like my GM products. If you like driving you will not be disappointed.

I think the F150 has a great interior if you are getting the fanciest interior. The regular interior is not all that great and I like the Titan's interior better. Most testers and advertisements show only the best Ford interior. It is very luxury car like and nice.

FORDGUY, I've been a long time Chevy guy but I traded in my 2001 Z71 for my Titan and have zero regrets. As much as I loved my Chevy, and it was a beautiful truck, I've never owned anything as nice as this. I like power, and so this was the truck for me! Handles great, looks great, has all the features that my Chevy had and then some. Except for the coin tray! :eh:

For me my dream truck that I have always wanted since I was a kid and I am not going to mention manufacturers for they all make great trucks. Is a 1 Ton HD diesel . Not that I need one I just love em. That's what you call a rig. I would love to have one but just could not afford a new one as I wanted new. I don't think anyone here on this forum can question the fact that when it comes to 1Ton HD trucks there are some great trucks. For example the Duramax diesel and Allison tranny. The Cummins diesel, the powerstroke diesel. And the bottom line is if you need a 1Ton HD you got 3 options Nissan as of yet is not one of those 3 options. My actual needs are that I can get by on a light duty 1/2 Ton and I needed to have something nice, tough, affordable so I can have that and keep up with mortgage payments, kids growing up ,etc. You can't beat the Titan for that. The Titan although a 1/2 ton tows and loads up like a 3/4 ton. And also got the stock performance. Although performance accessories are not as plentiful as for the big 3 more is making it's way through. As far as the service issues could be better could be worse like everyone else. So if that kind of truck use is what your actual needs are enough said.

I am quite pleased with my purchase of the Titan (except for the terrible radio reception.). I traded my Ford Bronco (198,000 mi) for the Titan and liked both vehicles... They actually ride quite similarly; but the Titan has much more power! I am less concerned with brand loyalty than with getting the vehicle I want... I believe the titan is a winner.

Once you drive it you'll buy it. Longtime Ford fan myself, can't really say that is true anymore. I simply got tired of the little nick nack stuff that my two most recent fords were always in the shop for. Window motor here, a transmission there,....well you can see where that is going. I do expect to have minor problems with my Nissan--it's a man made mechanical device, but that is why they have warranties.

The Titan has a tremendous motor.
Lots of room.
Great towing capacity.
Better fuel mileage when compared to similar vehicles, but it's not a fuel miser.
Creates "TFS" <----We'll explain this once you buy it :p
I could go on and on but...

Test drive a Titan and really hammer it. (Especially one with Big Tow and/or Off-Road so it has the lower gears). Then immediately afterward (same day) go drive the Ford F-150 crew FX4. It is a REALLY big let down. You will be converted.

FordGuy,

The Titan has all the goodies: 32 valves, overhead cam, oil cooler, transmission cooler, four wheel disc brakes, fully boxed frame, 5 speed auto trans, gated shifter,Utilitrac, side box,12v outlet in bed, steering wheel radio/cd controls, and a whole lot of other stuff.

And oh, I almost forgot, the best truck forum (Titan Talk) on the 'net!

The most truck for the money. I bought this truck as a replacement for the family car believe it or not it has more back seat space than most luxury cars. My 6' 2" son has more leg room than he knows what to do with, plus cup holders out the ying yang. Has any one mentioned this truck has power, I thought so.

I have owned so many new fords over the years, and still do have a 97 f150 with 189k on it, mostly because I can A plan them. I have had so many problems with most of them and some major ones! Like (motors, trannys, rear diffs, etc.) that I had to try something different.
Now I will tell you that I've had a few bugs with my new truck but it's been all little stuff! Nothing major! And the dealer and Nissan are working hard to fix the few things left that need to be fixed.
In no way am I dissappointed with my purchase. I'm getting good mpg. lots of power, and a very smooth ride.
I was able to deal down the price on a fully loaded LE CC. to 450 over invoice and this was back in Dec. When I price out a fully loaded ford on the ( A PLAN ) it was about 1k less then the Nissan.
When you look at the two trucks there is just way more content in the Nissan! The list is long, here is just a few,
1. With ford you can not get the sun roof with the DVD! it's one or the other! Nissan gives you both!
2. No Vehicle Dynamic control or Brake Assist
3. No Roof mounted side impact curtain air bags with rollover sensor system.
4. No Navigation system
5. No Memory Mirrors/ pedals/seats linked to two different keyless remotes
6. No Cinema style sound with center chanel sound.
7. No DOHC V8 and 5 speed trans.
8. No Electronic locking Differential.
9. No P285/70R 17 tires
10. No Trans temp gauge
11. No Utili-track system with 12 voltoutlet near tailgate, climate-resistant lockbox on drivers side rear wheelwell, sprayed on bedliner etc.
It gose on and on and on!
You can not get any of this on the ford!
And at only about 1k differents in price and with the fords bad resale price, buying the Nissan is a WISE MOVE! Nissan is known for there motors and drive tran. If you search this site you will find alot of very good info that may also help you. :)
Deep.

My last two trucks were Fords and I needed a break from the frustrations of weak towing and braking while towing. I am not sure how the new F-150 is, but all I have heard from 04 F-150 owners were disappointment.

Also I have been very surprised by the good ole boys on the construction sites that I visit. I really figured I was going to get a lot of ridicule, but to my surprise a lot of the good ole boys have approached me about the Titan in a very positive manner.

To be honest I like to support Ford and Chevy, but I think Ford simply applies marketing hype to stay ahead of competition rather than really applying good quality engineering and production. I am anticipating that Chevy step up to the plate and upgrade the Silverado. I still believe Chevy's current 1/2 ton setup is far better than Ford's as far as towing. The 5.3 liter is a stout little engine for towing, but I don't want to start a debate on domestics.

However, to get either the F-150 or the Silverado to tow as much as the base Titan you are probably looking at the high 20's and 30's or you have to get one of their "work" trucks that are totally stripped.

I'm with you when it comes to lift kits on Titans. I think alot of aftermarket companies are waiting to see how many Nissan sells, and then will estimate demand and calculate the cost of R&D vs. potential profit. CST is the only company who had the balls to take the initiative. They produced a full, real lift. Skyjacker is producing a 2.5" lift, but to me, that's a waste. I emailed a whole list of other well-respected suspention lift companies, and haven't heard back from any of them. CST currently has an 8" lift for 4x2s, and they replied to my email saying that they'll soon have an 8" lift for 4x4 Titans as well (couple of weeks).

The titan is a good deal for sure. I got mine for a good deal and its been mechanically sound. Lots of rattles, some really thin sheetmetal, and poor brake pedal pressure are my complaints. The engine pulls trailers very well, a little better then my 98 5.4 f150 i would say. I always liked my f150 though, and had 3 of them so i would go test drive them both. You sound like me i just wanted something different, last time i did that i got a 2000 ram 4x4 offroad. What a fine piece of craftsmanship that was, transmission, brakes and spark knock. Anyway stick with the titan, but I would get an 05 as maybe they will figure out how to assemble the interrior componets better.

I've been a Chrysler guy since my first car - a '67 Plymouth Barracuda. My last vehicle was a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee - which turned out not only to be my last Chrysler product, but my last American car period. I absolutely love my Titan.

As far as insurance goes, mine is less than $100 more per year than I was paying for my 7 year-old Grand Cherokee.

I spent the better part of a year researching the Titan, and simply put, no other truck out there could compete.

To echo the past few posts....power, power, power.

The tranny is way, way smoother than any domestic I've ever driven.

If you drive it, you'll buy it. I traded my Tahoe (2000, 5.3) in on a whim after driving the Armada. Towing is a dream with the load-leveling suspension.

Seeing the Arctic Cat avatar(i've got a zr 800), i assume you will be towing your sleds. One of my favorite aspects of the Titan is the ability to lock out the higher gears when towing. Haven't towed with a new ford, but I recently towed with my dads 04 hemi 1500 and I found myself constantly having to adjust the throttle to attempt to keep it in a lower gear which it never did of course. With the titan you see a big hill coming drop it into 3rd and it will hold 3rd the hole way, usually there is plenty of torque in 4th, but at least it gives you the option. Also the titans transmission will allow for engine braking, when descending a hill another great feature while towing. I can't invision owning another automatic truck that doesn't give you full control over the gears, its really like having a manual tranny with an auto option.

First met my wife in church one Sunday night in 1966. Had dated quite a few other girls but something about her just wrinkled my shorts. Asked her out for coke and burger. That was it, two months later married. Same with the Titan, first saw it , shorts started wrinkling, me and my wife took her out for a burger and the rest is history. 2004 CC/BT/SE Titan. I guess there is something about those burgers.
